Not exactly the spokesperson you'd want...I have a friend, we'll call her "Busy Friend Who Just Ain't Quite Right" (BFWJAQR), and her husband,"Busy Husband Who Really Ain't Right" (BHWRAR). Nice enough people, they just have "issues".
Anyway, Busy Dad and I get an invitation in the mail from them to come to an informational dinner, billed as a "Romantic Dinner" regarding "Marriage Encounter", a retreat-type thing about strengthening and enhancing marriages. Not an "in-trouble" thing, just a quiet time away to focus on your spouse, yadda, yadda, yadda.
OK, all well and good. It's just that I happen to know that BFWJAQR and BHWRAR are filing for separation next week.

Then what in the HELL is the reason for the invitation? IS the seperation in hopes to "Save The Marriage" or in hopes to get divorced?
For example, we filed seperation in hopes to give ourselves some space without finalizing anything. It lead to divorce, but the start was really to give a legally safe break.

That's one for the "All-righty" file, or maybe the "I-just-can't-stop-shaking-my-head" file. Friends like those help us all to feel more well-adjusted.
I would ask these two for some more information on this "retreat". What is the recommended attire, IF there is *any*??!!! I admit that I have caught a few episodes of "Real Sex" on HBO, and they like to film at these "retreats" for couples where they concentrate on their spouse... REALLY concentrate, and in the presence of the others... Get my drift? Enough said.
Ok...I would NOT attend a marriage retreat recommended to you by a couple that is splitting up.
I'm thinking it didn't work for them....
run.
and don't look back.
I think you are busy that evening.
At least they weren't selling Amway
It's obviously a self-intervention.
Is Amway still around??
I have heard great things about Marriage Encounter. From what I know it's not for marriages in trouble. Maybe they think that by going they can save their marriage. That would be my guess.
