Just in case you doubted my place as the Sandwich Generation Poster Child, I was faced this morning with a sick baby (who can't go the oncologist's office) and a mother who felt so bad, she couln't drive herself to the doctor. This has not been a issue for her since her diagnosis a year ago, so it alarmed me a bit.
Whoa there, buckaroo, take it easy, Busy Dad was right there. Remember though, he teaches school and it is usually best if he actually at school when it begins for the day. We decided that Busy Baby was better and gave him Motrin just in case and Busy Dad took all the kids to school. I went to get my mother who was supposed to have blood drawn this morning.
She has been feeling really tired from the chemo, but she usually "bounces back" after a few days and she just hasn't this time. To make a long story even longer, it was determined she needs a blood transfusion (her first). So, she was admitted and we made our way over to the hospital in a wheel chair and she was very discouraged about having to use it.
As of now, she's waiting to get blood and I'm here at her house picking up a few things for her. I called my Dad at work (if you just tuned in to my saga, I have a problems with him "getting" what's going on with her illness sometimes) and managed to get him to understand she ws at the hospital. He's a very smart man, he's a teacher as well, but sometimes I dunno...
We're hoping she doesnt have to stay the night, but she's in for a long day as this will take a while.

Sorry to hear that! It is so difficult when you have to take care of your kids and your parents at the same time. I think we are all going to be faced with it. My mom has been fortunate with her mom, she is still doing well at 90, but you never know.
Ohhhh so sorry to hear that.
I hope this is just a small bump in the road.
Take care.
{{{hugs}}} I'm in the same damn sandwich too. Hang in there sister. You know I've got you all in my thoughts.
I'm so sorry!! I hope your mom gets better quickly.
I hope your mom feels better soon! My parents had 12 years between them and had kids a little later on in life, so I had to deal with my father last year (who passed in Dec.) and luckily my mom is the young'un and can fend for herself..but her mind...it is a goin' ;-) It's a cruddy place to be in especially when you're as young as I am and trying to figure out your place in the world and everything that comes with an elderly parent. Hey, at least you're not at work? Is that something?? :-)
*sending you positive vibes*
Hey. I'm a Club Sandwich. Pretty cool.
I hope things start looking up for you and your mom.
As a cancer survivor myself, I know what your mother is going through. You're all in my thoughts.
best wishes to your mom for a speedy transfusion and a night in her own bed. hopefully, she won't have to get one of those port things. they are creepy.
Both of them are in my thoughts today...take care.
Busy Mom, thanks for the news on your mom. As the daughter of a cancer patient, reading your reports prepares me for what MIGHT come.
I hope everything goes well for your Mom and that she doesn't need to stay overnight. Sending good and energetic vibes.
Awww, what a craptastic start to your week. Here's hoping today is the worst day, and that your mom and Busy Baby stay well.
You're right Mir...it sounds like a pretty craptastic start. Take care of yourself.
Hope your mom feels better after getting some new blood.
I'm sorry to hear that your mom's sick...I've been lurking, but haven't stopped by in awhile...SORRY! Hopefully the blood will get her pumped up enough to fight this thing! Have you guys been asked to donate yet? I'm not sure if it's hospital policy, but sometimes it's a nice thing to do! Hope your week goes better then its start!
I'm very sorry Busy Granny hasn't been feeling so well lately. I'm sure the blood will help. {{{Hugs}}} for both of you.
Hope you all are all home by now. I'm sending you well wishes and plenty of peaceful sleep. Sounds like the whole busy family could use it.
Your family is in my thoughts and prayers. I hope your Mom is starting to feel a little better, that must be so hard.
