Busy Mom BarometerCoffee of the Day: Caramel Apple Cider
Listening to: WMVY
Thinking: You know you've waited too long to eat lunch when you start thinking, "Get the hell out of my way," when there are elderly visitors making their food choices in the cafeteria.
Wishing: I hadn't gotten the baked ziti. Anyone got a Tums?
Reading: 3rd Degree by James Patterson
Shopping: Thinking about getting this karaoke machine and this camera for Busy Girl for Christmas. Those are the only things she wants. Well, at least right now, anyway. My new found early Christmas shopping is blowing me away. You can really shop before December 22nd. Who knew?

I *finished* my Xmas shopping yesterday. Let me just say that the world will end soon, snowballs are surviving in Hell and WHOA! That was a pig that just flew by my window!
I never knew you could actually shop and enjoy it before Thanksgiving...not to mention complete it all...something's not right in whoville.
I am a traditionalist that won't start shopping until mid-December, just for the principle of it. It is very mild here of late and feels like late September rather than ten days from December. Of course that could change in a minute. I just don't like thinking about the next holiday before the first one has happened. Shopping malls have been overrun with people wanting to buy, buy, buy. Sort of ruins the spirit for me when XMas starts way too early.
Nice. I'm impressed with your early shopping! I developed a little system for myself to make shopping easier this year. I made a list of the folks I needed to buy for and then broke them down into groups by what store I could get all of their presents from. On Saturday I hit Toys R Us, Best Buy and Barnes & Noble - and only Barnes & Noble required going to a separate shopping plaza. That's it. I'm done. Granted, some of them were a tight fit for the group/store I put them in, but in the end I think it worked out pretty well. And sure, maybe Grandma won't know what to do with the new Shins CD, but it might make for a nice coaster...
By the way, very cool camera for Busy Girl!
Christmas shopping? Hmmmmm ... I should probably think about maybe doing that one of these days. ;)

5 years ago,I would have written exactly what ken wrote, butin 2000, around Thanksgiving, my mother in law was dying and things were out of control and I knew if I put off my shopping, the kids wouldn't have much, so I shopped and wrapped as I shopped. I was done in early Dec. My MIL passed on the 15th, but I had no pressure or worries about "getting ready". We could just mourn and be a family. it was arevelation that has really had a huge impact on the joy of the holiday.
Ad far as that particular kareoke machine, I am sorry to tell you that it is crapola.
I have made some progress--got my VISA bill today and just about fainted!
Hey, Barnes & Noble has great stuff and this week it's free shipping AND $5.00 order! yippee! go nuts! I bought books, a calendar, puzzle, and dvd's.
Caramel Apple Cider coffee? Be still my beating heart...
and I started Christmas shopping yesterday.
I am so proud.
