A bit on XM Kids this morning about a guy denying he used to be a secret agent/spy reminded me of Busy Dad. Why? Well, I'll tell you. Busy Dad has been teaching high school for 15 years. Somewhere along the line, the kids decided he was with the "See Eye Ay" (not something I want Googled). Not really sure how it started. It may have been because he carried a pager or it may have been because he resembles an actor from some spy action movie I can't remember right now.
Anyway, this rumor has persisted over the years and there are people who really believe it. As a matter of fact, there may be faculty who aren't sure what to think. There have been pep rally skits about it, kids come up to him and ask him on the sly to tell them what he "really" does. It isn't helped (or, it is helped) by the fact that I bought him an agency logo polo shirt, the kind you can get on the street in D.C., and, if he wears it, he tells people the letters stand for "Catholics In Action". You can almost see the rumors flying by when he wears that or uses his agency coffee mug.
But, speaking of real mysteries, I have a friend (speak up if you're here, Strapless) who has a brother with a mystery job. No one in the family knows what he does and he doesn't tell. He is gone for extended periods of time and he even disappeared immediately after the disaster in 2001 for about a month. She once saw him in an out of town airport wearing clothes he wouldn't normally wear and he walked right by without acknowledging her. *cue "Secret Agent Man" music* Weird, huh?
Oh, and not related to this topic, but there are some combinations are just wrong. That's all I'm sayin'.

I had a friend in high school and we really thought her Dad was in the Mafia. Of course this myth was perpetuated by my friend I think. I don't know what kind of mafia it would have been anyway, because they certainly weren't Italian.

My sister's neighbors think that she and her husband are Drug Agents...all because my BIL bought a white taurus and he carries a pager and a cell phone (that some neighbor saw and said that it was a gun! lol) They just let them think it...that way people leave them alone! heeee! lol
We know what it's like to belong to a three letter organiztion. It isn't easy, that's for sure.
As for hubby, well, he needs to play it up.
He can always start a rumor that the kid who was real pain, didn't drop out. Not really.
Nope, he just disappeared.
Same goes for that other teacher that quit. That ought to get him some big respect in the teacher's lounge.
Too funny. I immediately thought of the movie "Meet the Parents" and the scene where Robert DeNiro hooks Ben Stiller up to the lie detector. I wonder will happen when Busy Girl starts dating in a few years...
I bet Busy Dad won't be telling the boys that come by the house that those letters stand for Catholics In Action...lol!

In 1999, I moved to Germany with 3 bags of clothes and a snowboard. I've been here since, and my family in the states think I am on a top secret mission for some 3 letter organization.
They refuse to visit, because they don't want to get 'in the way of my duties'. I constantly tell them I am just a Budget Analyst, but they don't believe.
The next time I go back to St. Louis, I'll wear one of those shirts the ENTIRE time. That would be fun!
I had a cousin's husband's sister married to an undercover narcotics cop and man, he would pop in a family dinners and such if he could - he would look like such a dirtbag - I would have walked right by him on the street!
But he would "dissapear" for periods of time and such. I could not be married to that!

I tell people sometimes that I really work for NASA and the government in a plot to cover up that the moon walk never happened. See, I work in tourism and one of the historic sites in my region is the Ducktown Basin Copper Musem. Anyway, because of all the mining for along time the landscape had been comepletly bare of any trees...it looked like the surface of the moon. And we all know that this is were the real moon walk to place. I'm also deep throat.
So, when he plays "See-Eye-Ay", do you play cocktail waitress or do you go more for the cheerleader get-up? hahaha.
