Would you believe me if I told you...My Dad is in the ER now. He takes coumadin and is prone to nose bleeds and this one isn't stopping he'll be fine, it's just a pain in the ass to deal with. Oh well, at least he was already here.
My mom is having kind of a bad day, I think the steroids are really messing with her and she's jittery and anxious. Breathing and other stuff seems OK.
Do they have bars in hospitals?

Bars in hospitals would definately improve things! Or at least make the details fuzzy.
Coumadin - please. All I remember is the weekly blood tests with results telling me to give her 3/4th a pill M,W,F, and 1/3 a pill the other days, 2x a day each, etc. etc. and then changing it all the next week.
Aughhhhh...
Can you get fed-ex there? I can get you something by manana.
Okay, that's no help, I'm sure some of the staff knows where there is a bar nearby (close enough to visit during lunch hour, even)
Maybe you should open a bar there... I'm sure you'd get lots of customers!
Drop a note in the comment box, will ya? That is a BRILLIANT suggestion!
(((hugs)))
How frustrating! My Dad has the same nosebleed issue . . . ugh! So sorry...
OH I think a bar in a hospital would be a good thing.
I'm glad your mom is doing better, and that your dad will be OK. I'm glad you shaved your legs too!!
My gosh, could your and your parent's lives get any more interesting? I am sorry, you do need a drink, I bet. How about some chocolate instead?
Do they still have candystripers? They would make good bartenders. Hang in there. Prayers are forthcoming.
I'm on Coumadin, too, and when I was in the hospital in December, the oxygen gave me terrible nosebleeds. I hope your dad doesn't have to go through that again.
it's amazing how eventually our bodies seem to need medicine to either keep our blood thick enough or thin enough to survive. My gramps is on coumadin, too.
My grandmother was on that stuff and it caused a lot of bleeding problems with her, including non-stop nose bleeds. She changed heart drs and the new one said he doesn't like to give that medicine to very many of his patients because it does that way too often.
You are certainly having a rough several weeks. I hope things start looking up. It's one thing to work in a hospital and a completely different thing to have to be on the other end. Hope that both of your parents are doing better by the time I write this!
HUGS
First off, I put your dad on my prayer list, and will pray for him -- for the immediate problem, but also his health in general.
My FIL takes coumadin, and has the same problem. I, however, must be one of the lucky ones (although, I feel "so old" ...everyone is saying "my grandma, my grandpa ... takes coumadin". I'm ONLY 46 years old! But my heart is in atrial fib, and I won't let them "shock" it, so I continue to take the coumadin. It is a pain in the behind, with the blood tests and continually changing the dosage, but a necessity of life when you have heart problems.
I truly hope he is doing better now!
I hear ya, Carolyn - I'm only 28.
Talk about a full plate--you really have it, Busiest of Busy Moms and Daughters!
