This is going to take some getting used to

I may have posted this before, but, well, I'm too lazy to look. My father, the one of the bi-weekly ER visit fame, is basically a man of few words. He very rarely instigates phone calls and, usually, any call from him means someone had died or some other emergent matter. Though over the past couple of years his calls have also been for computer support (please don't tell him any help I provide is purely accident on my part).

Every now and then, he'll go against the grain and call, but his initial greeting sounds the same whether someone has died, the house is on fire or he wants to borrow a book. Your stomach lands in your feet when he calls, until you figure out what he wants. I still haven't forgiven him for calling me at work one day (which truly had NEVER occured unless dead people were involved) just to try out his new cell phone.

But, with my mother being at home now, we need to communicate by phone. However, I may never be able to react normally when he is on the other end of my work phone, but I had better get used to it. Now, excuse me while I pick up my stomach from my loafers and attempt to give up caffeine so I don't explode.

I never thought I'd ever say this, but I suspect you'll be grateful when his calls are about just won trips to Pittsburgh- and all he has to do is listen to that time share pitch.

Then again, maybe you like the tech support calls.

Are the busy kids on the back of an L&N Railroad caboose?

maybe you could teach him to text message? lol

Hey your dad can work a cell phone. That's a plus right there.

You'll get used to it.

Then, he'll stop and you'll give him a hard time for not calling you any more. ;)

Wow, your dad can use a cell phone, and a computer? My EX mother in law can't even use a TV remote properly yet, although MY mom has a laptop, email and cell phone, but there is a 20 year age difference between them.
Anyways, glad that your Mom is feelin' a bit better, I've gotcha covered in the prayers.
Hugs from Cowboy....

*HUGS* You are in my thoughts girl.

You know,I feel like that when my brother calls. The first thing I ask is:Who's hurt".lol

At least he calls.

Feel good that he can use a cell phone. On Sunday, while pookie, pookiesmom, and I were on a walk across 'Little Middle', we got a call from pookiesmom's aunt. She had recently gotten a laptop from her employer and having one before, I assumed she knew how to maintain one (i.e. battery). She was irate at Comcast for their shortcomings in showing up on time and delivering services as advertised when she asked about why there was this flashing lightning-bolt thing in her system tray. I asked if she had charged the laptop recently. She replied, "Well the thing is suppossed to be wireless! Why don't the IT guys tell me anything! What does the plug look like?" I wanted to ask her if she thought it was powered by nuclear fusion or fission rxn; but resisted. I explained that if she required help for it to contact her IT guys because 'it's your work laptop and I don't want to get blamed for any incorrect settings.'

We must be long lost sisters because my dad does the same thing! If I answer the phone and hear his voice, I just KNOW someone has died! That seems to be the only thing that inspires him to pick up the phone!
