Here are things I miss:
1. I miss Friday night TV. There was nothing like waiting for school to be out, packing your things to spend the night at someone's house with your inflatable chair, giddy with anticipation of the Brady Bunch coming on at 7pm followed by the Partridge Family at 7:30. If the grownups weren't watching carefully, you could get away with watching at least part of Love, American Style even though you really weren't supposed to. With videos, cable and Tivo, my kids will never know the agonizing wait for something to come on TV and the thrill of a TV special event. Sad, really.
2. When I was growing up, being finally old enough and allowed to walk to the store was an important rite of passage. Several streets over there was a strip mall with a grocery, a drug store and a 5 and dime shop. I'm sure we must have terrorized the place running around in unsupervised packs. The world is a different place now. Another thing I miss and that my kids will never know is roaming the neighborhood and having grocery store feet.

Grocery store feet!
I've long called it K-Mart feet.
I just bought Brady Bunch Season 1 on DVD, and pre ordered Season 2 LOL! I don't remember first airs (I was a toddler!) but loved the reruns. I noticed Partridge Family is out too, so I may need to get that.
I used to love Love, American Style - although I was too young to know what was really going on LOL
Those were fun to read :-)
Have a good day!
I had totally forgotten about Spoons! We (my sisblings and the mulitudes of cousins) would play it when we were together for the semi-annual pilgrimage to New York. Thank you so much for the link to the rules. I'm going to teach my best friends 6 1/2 year old how to play.
Finally, a meme I wouldn't mind being tagged with.
Cute- I really enjoyed that!
Grocery store feet...cute! I know what you mean; it's sad that so much innocence has been lost in just the last 20 years. I don't understand why the world has to be different. I blame mini-series on serial killers and reality tv. And Republicans. Because I can.
Remember going barefoot and the inevitable STUBBED TOE!!! Ewwwwww I hated them

Brady's are fine. We went with the Little House on the Prarie DVD series. Kids, all under 7, glued to the set for each show. Beats letting them see CSI.
Grocery store feet...ahh my mom cured me of that by telling me there were bugs in the grass that could get to my feet. Of course I listened to her for a year, and well now? uh not so much.
*wiggling bare toes*
Loved your five! Of course, I've still only done one, went into too much detail, and have not thought of 4 others. I need to take lessons from you. I am working on a post about TV from that era - it's positively SHOCKING!
I also second you on Great Googly Moogly- the towels!!
Happy weekend.

We are about the same age and now that you mention it I do remember watching the Partridge Family (my favorite) and Love American Style. Throw in Adam West and the Batman Series and that was my TV life in the 60's early 70's.
I miss the thrill of after swimming in the community pool, going to the snack machines there and buying one of those big 3 inch sweet tarts.
*sigh*
Whoa, Busy Mom. This was GREAT! I had completely forgotten about the fact that we could actually GO everywhere barefoot once upon a time. Remember the cool of the linoleum of the stores (taking your title quite literally...)??? I'm thinking of the local dime store where we'd head with our allowance on Saturday afternoon when chores were done and we could blow the entire thing on a sack of candy if we wanted to. :)
And the Friday night tv shows were pretty darned familiar to me, too!
