WeirdA small local paper has learned we are hosting a family from New Orleans and has been calling for interviews. Now that I think about it, I think it all stemmed from me feeling the need to explain myself with a grocery cart full of beer (and nothing else, as I had already been to the store once that day) when I saw some people I knew at the grocery the other day.
Also, I just read that you can donate spare change to the Red Cross through those Coinstar machines you see at the grocery. Go check it out.

For Local Blog

Which small local paper? Are ya gonna do it? I read about some families in The TN this morning and thought about you and how nice it is for you and others to open your homes. I can only imagine how bad it would be not having a house, clothes, family photos, etc. They are All in our Prayers. Tell BG H B'day and hope your feeling better.
CELEBRITIES! ;)
What starts with a small paper could get HUGE.

Cool! We could say we knew you when.
By any chance is that beer for tonight's Titans vs. Packers game? Go Pack Go!
Send your company my best wishes too ok? That beer sounds like a great idea, thanks..
Busy Mom, be sure your guests take advantage of all the free things Katrina-evacuees can do while in Nashville. ( www.musiccityusa.com/hurricaneRelief.aspx ) If I run across a list of bars offering free beer to the same group, I'll be sure to let you know. All the best.
Good for you! My husband's company said they will not ignore and leave workers of the company stranded down there without houses and jobs and will be moving them up here if they want. They asked if we would be willing to help house these people.
Of course. Good for you for not waiting to be asked though.
I read on another web site that if you wanted to open your home to these folks to call your local Red Cross. They are compiling a list.
I also heard in Tallassee Fl, they are asking these poor folks to leave the hotels because there is a football game there Sat. and the rooms were already promised. Same situation with the Alabama vs MTSU game in Tuscaloose, Al. except there, the City of Tuscaloosa and the University ask the fans to give up there room, which the majority have done but also are going ahead and paying for the nights they had reserved. So what's more important, a football game ( of which I'm a BIG fan) or a place for these folks to stay??
Go TITANS and ROLLLL TIDE!!
Yay for you!
You're an "early adopter." By this time next year we'll all have a refugee family of our own and it won't get in the paper ;)
(I'm half kidding)
My son was excited they have new kids to play with at school...
Oh, and our first home game isn't until the 17th of Sept; they estimate 1,500 folks are already here and in hotels; I wonder if they'll make them move?
Or, will they have to pay the triple rate like everyone else does on home game weekend?
This is Long. Term. I just read a guy saying that if everything goes well, then they might get 10% of the people home in six to nine months. If not, it could be years...
How did YOU get conned into going on a beer run??
When can we start the fan club?
Very good of you to open your home to he fiends from New Orleans, no doubt they very much appreciate it.
yeah, yeah, "It's not MY beer, it's for somebody else!!"
You're a Princess, kid (and as if you're not already really Busy). I for one would like to know more about how this came about.
You're the best! And you should probably be re-named "Busier Mom" now.
I know how you feel. I'm trying to raise money for two blogging friends.
If you can spare $2, go check out my post from today.
At least I know they will get what they need and not have to wait.
