The Preschooler Formerly Known as Busy Baby (and Commander of the XM Radio remote) is working on learning his phone number. However, his tolerance for practicing it is unpredictable.

The Preschooler Formerly Known as Busy Baby: "I can say my phone number!" (he does so correctly, give or take the order of a couple of digits)
Me: "Great!" I then admit that I launched into the "phone number song" I made up when teaching the older two their phone number lo those many years ago.
The Preschooler Formerly Known as Busy Baby: "Stop. I can't hear the radio."
Me: "Oh, OK." (I stoppped singing, wondering how he will ever learn his phone number without my musical stylings)
The Preschooler Formerly Known as Busy Baby: "Turn off the radio."
Me: "OK, but I thought you wanted to hear that song."
The Preschooler Formerly Known as Busy Baby: "I didn't really like the song all that much, I just wanted you to stop."

Must be a three year old thing! Mine has been known to ask me to stop singing while we're driving. I'm not sure what bothers me more...that he asks me to stop singing, or that I realize I'm singing "Old MacDonald Had a Farm"

At least he TRIED to be tactful. AT first.

Oh, it's a three year old thing! LOL! Although, my daughter is convinced that I am Shanya Twain, Sarah McClachlin (sp?) and Jewel. Yeah, right! I wish!

LOL. Everyone's a critic.

;)

Don't feel bad,my kids ask me to quit singing too.lol

My 2-year old points to her bed and wants to go to sleep when I start singing. Quickest way to get her into bed!

Ha ha! That is hilarious. At 1 1/2, my baby shouts "MAMA!" and wags her finger at me if I sing a song she doesn't want to hear. The criticism starts all too early, doesn't it?

Gotta love the brutal honesty.

Ha! Thing1 used to cover his ears and cry when I sang. I didn't try it with Thing2. I don't much like singing anyway, I just thought it was something mamas were supposed to do.

It's downhill once they start asking you not to sing ;)

My kids ALWAYS ask me to quit singing! hahahaha! I don't think it has ANYTHING to do with the song either! : )

My mom will start singing and then forget the words and put in the lalala's and humming. So I said she should do a recording and label the collection. "Your songs, My Way!" :-)

OMGosh... LOL. Awesome.

Too funny! My boys grew up with me singing to them, around the house, in the car, etc. It wasn't until my oldest was in middle school that he asked me one day, in mid-song, "Mama, who sings that song?" When I told him, he replied, "Let's keep it that way."

I love it! My daughter/queen of the world used to just say "Momma don't sing" and I was a vocal music minor in college, go figure.

I'm so glad I'm not alone.

I sing a lullaby to my daughter every night while putting her to bed but try to sing in the car or along with the radio or anytime else and it's, "Mommy! Can you please stop singing that!"

Sheesh!

That's hilarious! LOL! He's pretty smart!

Oh wow, that's great. So clever! haha.

It seems that perhaps 3-year-olds still haven't developed their ability to discern musical talent. Oh well, they're only 3.

HAHahhahahah, oh that was priceless Busy Mom. He got you there, but I have to say OUCH. ;) and just think he's this sharp as a toddler, what's he going to be like when he's a teen?

I've said it before, God I love that kid. I can't wait to hear tales of him when he's in his teens.

Why is it our families always shoots down our little master pieces? I had a wonderful little ditty about eating nicely, and Tony always puts his hands up to his ears and moans "No Mommy, Not THAT! Please, not that one!"

You were scaring his ears! Been there done that, too. I know the heart break of being told to stop singing because you stink. Yeah...I live in a family where everybody can carry a tune but me...even with a bucket!
