Hoo boy. Went to the mall yesterday and vowed I'd never go back. Yet? I'm back in the very same part of town as we speak. I'm coming to you live from Panera while I try to get psyched up to actually go into the mall because I need to get a few things. I may have to go over to Target and do some warm-up shopping first, though. Don't want to strain anything, dontchaknow.
We need a new TV and it so happens I have a gift certificate that would cover it, except that Sears is the only place in this mall that has such electronics. Now, that would be simple enough for most people, except for the fact that I am married to Mr. Consumer Reports and we have to purchase just the right make and model of everything after months of painstaking research and, well, Sears didn't have the Nimbus 2000, or whatever it is we are looking for. Admittedly, I probably need to take more care in researching my purchases, but, if you ask me, no planning is needed to buy a can opener. Speaking of small electronics, (sorry, Billy) since many of you asked, the Egg and Muffin Toaster worked like a charm. Egg McMuffins for everyone!
I just dropped Busy Girl off at a cooking class she got for Christmas. Though this may lose something in the telling, I had to laugh at myself as I was making the journey to Franklin earlier. We were running a little behind and, since it was b.c. (before coffee) I was having trouble figuring out how to get there since we weren't approaching it from the usual way, and, I was trying to avoid the traffic areas. I decided to get on Franklin Road, but I wasn't sure which way I needed to turn when I got to the end. I was a little stressed about it because time was a wastin' when I realized that Franklin Road would, indeed, take me to Franklin without the need to turn. Maybe you had to be there, but it was a big "duh" on my part.
OK, off to the mall. If you're from around here, you know what I mean when I say I have to be in the right frame of mind to go inside Cool Springs this time of year!

For Local Blog

Hang in there - I braved the mall yesterday, and it wasn't so terrible. The bargains made up for the headache!
I'm trying to avoid ALL stores for the next week or so. I do not like shopping with those crazies out there! Of course, I just so happen to be out of milk...
I'm not sure if you are brave or just plain insane. I've passed by that mall in years past and was thankful to not be stopping.
Good luck! I'm avoiding all major retail areas until tomorrow. The hubby did return from Wal-Hell alive and well yesterday. Of course I couldn't persaude him to return something for me, though. Ugh.
Yes when I lived in Clarksville I visited Cool Spring's after Christmas one year, it was quite the experience. I hope you survived.
Man - good luck. I went to the local Fred Myer yesterday to get a shelving unit to act like a pantry, and man alive were there a lotta cranky people! Ugh. I'ma hide till after new years now!
I still have PMSS (post-mall-stress-syndrome) and have no plans to return for a long, long time.
And I didn't know that Mr. ConsumerReports was a BIGAMIST! I feel hurt and betrayed. But since we're both married to him, does that makes us, like, RELATED or something?
Cooking school... Hmmm... Is it more for the cooking versed or those that really need the basics. Pookiesmom needs some time behind the ol' range gaining confidence about cooking.
Oh my. I went to Cool Springs last January and it was wild enough then!
I was at Cool Springs Mall yesterday morning at 8 am (with baby and husband too!)...it really wasn't that bad. The kicker was that EVERY store I went to for "the great sales" didn't have one pair of boots my size!!!! It was nice to sit in the food court and not have to wrestle somebody for a table! Good luck!
Amen. I live in Cool Springs and I have not set foot in the mall since December 1.
I have Franklin Road issues also. I get lost around Hillsboro/Franklin Road/Old Hwy 96 trying to get to and from downtown. It took me two years to find the library on Columbia Ave.
Oh my goodness, I need to call my husband Mr. Consumer Reports as he is the same way! And planning vactions? Forget it - he has to do every amount of research possible!
Wish I had know you were going to be in my "neck of the woods", I could have directed you around and about Franklin Road, then we could have met for coffee. Glad Busy Girl is over her stomach thing and hope she enjoyed her cooking school. We went to Cool Springs Mall on Friday - just needing to go to one store and were fortunate to find a parking space just outside the door. I then ask hubby if he wanted to stroll the mall a bit.... All I got was "the look". Glad you had a Nice Christmas and wish you and your family a Happy New Year.
If you see Alica Silverstone at the mall, don't do the "girl in distress" thing over the balconey.
PS. Glad to see your blog once again "well-centered" ha.
OMGosh you said "Cool Springs" and suddenly I had flashbacks. I haven't even THOUGHT about Cool Springs in about 8 years.
We used to shop there and I had forgotten ALL about it. Suddenly my BabyGirl is 4 years old again and we are buying her a little purple and white checked dress with a little matching hat that was oh-so-adorable.....
and came from Cool Springs mall.
Oh thank you for the trip down memory lane!!!!
I don't even drive by Cool Springs this time of year let alone go inside! I took Sweetpea to the Factory @ Franklin (yes, on Franklin Road!) where we went to Third Coast Clay to paint pottery. It was practically a ghost town in there, except for Third Coast which was fairly busy. I loved not having to contend with crowds and large parking lots!
"Egg & Muffin Toaster"?
Oooohhhhh!
I think I know what I'm getting for my birthday, now! :)
