Farewell, Leo.

I am seriously bummed about Leo's death. I wonder when Heaven will have it's first Big Block of Cheese Day? (Why, yes, I do know it's a TV show, and, it's not real, but, I will cry real tears at his funeral next week, anyway.)

It is so sad.

Same here, we knew it was coming - but it still was a very sad episode. Many tears will be shed at his TV funeral next week.

I held up pretty good, until the scenes between C.J. and the Prez. Then I teared up. I didn't sob, but I got misty. Next week, I'm going to be a wreck.

I just long for a day when our government officials are half as noble as these fictional ones.

i've never really got into west wing after rob lowe...but thanks 4 the update

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who felt this way. My stomach was tied in knots during the beginning scene when no one knew. I kept waiting for that moment when someone would finally tell Josh. I cried and I'm sure I'm really going to cry next week.

So was anyone this upset when John Spencer died?

I was very sad when John Spencer died, I cried and I don't always do that when an actor dies. I think now that Leo has to die too, it just makes me feel like he [John Spencer] had to die twice. (sniff)

I cried when we watched it last night (thanks to TIVO) and I am not even a regular fan. I was just keeping Mr. Belle company.

I bawled when John Spencer died because he was my favorite actor on West Wing. I haven't watched West Wing since about 3 months after Aaron Sorkin left, but I have the first 2 seasons on DVD and listened to an in-depth interview with Spencer (his real life battle with alcohol, etc.).

I have contemplated returning to the final episodes of the show to see how it ends, but haven't been able to bring myself to watch without Spencer. Thanks for linking to the recap so I could see how they handled the death of Spencer's character.

I think the fact that the death was real and felt by everyone who works on the show -- writers, producers, actors, crew alike -- adds to the poignancy. They're not really ACTING.

I wish Abby had been in the episode as well, because she and Leo were good friends too. I certainly hope she is in next week's...

oh yeah, we cried! i think it's because it was real, ya know? this was the first time the actors actually got to show grief...and that was very very sad to watch.
honestly, i'm not sure we'll even be able to watch the funeral--tho', i guess we actually will, if only to honor the fine actor who played the part of "leo". but we won't like it. and i have no doubt we'll cry again. oh yes... we will cry!

I work at that studio, and my office is next door to the production office. The episode was very tough for them to handle.
