Let's talk about Pop TartsWhat is the deal with Pop-Tarts Go Tarts (said in best Jerry Seinfeld voice)? Are full sized PopTarts just that inconvenient that we needed them "portable"? Whatever.
I'm also going to make a shocking revelation: I hate toasted Pop Tarts. I must have my Pop Tarts cold. Don't even tell me if you're one of those people who puts butter on them.

?????????????????
EWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
Butter? ewwww.
But as for toasted - I'm with you, leave em cold!
I admit that I like go-tarts. They are smaller than the full sized ones and make a nice snack. If I opened a real packet of pop-tarts I would eat both of them. So this is better. And no toasting, so you would like them!
Butter? On a pop-tart? Oh. My.
Toasted please... with hot, gooey filling. Chocolate only, thanks.
Yeah, portable pop-tarts....are so, umm, necessary. The big ones are so cumbersome, you know? And you have to go to all that work of biting them and all. So much more convenient to pop small unit of fat & sugary starch in your mouth...
My daughter hates hers toasted, but I don't like them cold. We never have them in the house anyway, but, well, sometimes we do. I haven't tried the go-tarts. Maybe we'll have to see what they're like.
I am ashamed (sorta, not really) to admit that the Poptart food group is a breakfast staple in my house. Gameboy freezes his - and Princess loves the GoTart because it has more goo and the "bread" is softer. I like the GoTart because they leave less crumbs in the car.
Butter on pop tarts?How un-American!lol
Amen, sister. Cold. Not even room temperature. YUM!
The only Pop-Tart: TOASTED brown sugar and cinnamon with frosting. Nothing else will do.
Butter on pop tarts?How un-American!lol
I thought that said How Un-American Idol. Oy, it's early.
I would never put butter on a Pop-Tart, but I am guilty of using more than one frosting packet on a Toaster Streudel.
I can never eat just one Pop Tart in the package. I prefer strawberry frosted ones, toasted. And NO generic Pop Tarts...can't handle those.
I too love cold Pop-Tarts! I also do not like the Go Tarts. They remind me of the off-brand Pop-Tarts, and I deplore those.
In my world, I only insist on "name-brand" on a few occassions... Pop-Tarts and soft drinks. I cannot accept "off-brands" of either.
If I want a Dr. Pepper, it had better be Dr. Pepper, not Mr. Pibb or Dr. Thunder!
P.S. -- My favorite Pop-Tarts, Frosted Strawberry!
I also hate toasted Pop Tarts.
And I also hate cold Pop Tarts.
This is the sad evidence of micro-marketing gone wild. Pop-Tarts attempt to woo the "Cereal Bar" Market.
Are they really any different or more convenient? No. Will they be able to get people who would not have purchased them before. Probably.
What have I been thinking......does this mean I shouldn't have taken pop-tarts out of the house. I didn't realize they were not portable! :)
I prefer cold poptarts as well (though I think its probably an instant gratification thing!)
I have a confession. And y'all better seat down 'cuz it's a big one. Some of you may wish to have smelling salts neaby. Ready? I've. Never. Ever. Had. A Pop Tart. Never. Serious. Really.
You okay? I thought I heard a dull thud.
One of my best childhood friends used to put butter on pop tarts, especially when either of our mothers would get the non frosted kind. Even as a kid I felt that was a bit excessive, It isn't as "ew" as you all seem to think. Maybe it is a kid thing. I tried it once when I was older and was disgusted.
Now, raw pop tarts, that's something done only in case of emergencies, like a nuclear winter.
I thought the same thing on the portable pop tarts. I can take mine either way (toasted or not). My husband puts butter on his toasted brown sugar ones - eek!! I don't like generic they are not the same.
I don't eat them very often, but, when I do, I can eat them either way.
What's wrong with you people??? Butter, melted on anything warm is good.
Butter on a pop tart?? That sounds nasty!
I am with you-cold every time. Especially the smores pop tarts-yummy chocolate and marshmellows.
I haven't had a Pop Tart in years. I used to buy them, though, and send them in care packages to my brother during his first tour of duty in Iraq. I think he ate them cold. I know the day is coming when the Munchkin gets lured in by the pervasive marketing and she insists on them.
I haven't had a pop tart in years but back then I liked them room temperature, no toasting. The Go Tarts look yummy.
Cold pop tarts? Geez, I need to find a new guest blogger!
I love the pop-tart. Big, small, hot, cold. But butter? Never thought of it. Considering I could eat butter by the stick, I'm afraid to try it, lest I gross you out.
I'm sad to admit this, but pop tarts are a basic food group in my house. It is one of about eight things that my picky eater boychild will eat. I'm not proud of this fact, but.... Anyway, he eats them cold, two at a time, not always for breakfast. And, he has been hinting about the gotart variety, but I have resisted so far, although who am I kidding? Can anyone say "mom of the year"??
I, butter girl, just left a bogus link. Sorry.
Go Tarts. Had em. Prefer the original Pop Tarts, which are portable, wouldn't you say? I go for chocolate fudge. Or cherry frosted. I like them cold, but lightly toasted is ok. Butter? Gag!!!!
I can't eat pop tarts. Ever since Toaster's Strudel's came out...I'm spoiled!
Butter on a pop tart? Ew.
we don't toast them either. Travis has temperature issues with his foods (gotta love a picky eater).
I don't eat them. Ever.
butter?? yuckkkk.
I prefer the brown sugar frosted ones. mm mmm good.
OK, I'm so old that I remember when PopTarts were a brand new product. The first ones did not come with frosting, and I think the box suggested serving them with butter. The brown sugar-cinnamon ones tasted especially good toasted and with melted margarine on 'em. Of course, I stopped eating PopTarts right around when I joined Weight Watchers the first time and have not purchased a box since -- my daughter has never tasted one. However, I do work at the concesson stand at her gym and I can report that they are popular snacks for sale there... and no child who has bought one from me has ever told me she wants it toasted. I think the mini's would be a nicer size for us to sell.
Not a fan of the Pop Tart in any way, shape or form. The Pop Tart eaters in the house usually eat them cold because they're grabbing it on the way out the door. Personally, I always make time for breakfast. I'd rather be late than miss it!
Hold onto your hats, but I like them WITHOUT icing.
And cold. Not hot.
And butter. I must go bathe after hearing that.
OMG..... 33 comments on Pop Tarts! Tell us: what's your record on number of comments and what was the subject?
....and for the record (I'm sure New Orleans friend would agree) butter makes EVERYTHING better!
What! A cold PopTart? Thats like putting katsup on scrambled eggs. Blasphemy I say!
Always toasted, but only the unfrosted strawberry gets a hint of butter.
However, I prefer Toastettes. You know, the ones Nabisco used to make? They had yummy sugar sprinkles on them and were so much better than Pop-Tarts.
Damn you Nabisco.
We eat our poptarts plain and cold here in this house, too. My college roomie did the butter thing, though, IN A MICROWAVE .
Butter? On a Pop Tart? Excuse me while I throw up a little in my own mouth.
Toasted? No way! Cold all the way, baby!
And while I am at it, might I add...did you really feel the need to leave a HURRICANE behind when you left Florida? All I can say is the crab claws BETTER be in good supply and ready for consumption!
Alvin's....here we come! bwahahaha
I put my in the fridge. Yumm. With a glass of milk. Because the milk make them heathly you know.
I'm a Pop Tart lover from way back and confess I don't know what Go Tarts are (but I get the drift). Now, if they would just make Pop Tart crusts and leave out the filling, I could go for that. Pop Crusts. Hmm, doesn't sound too marketable.
Butter.? Oh yes. Guilty! On pop tarts, cinnamon rolls, danish, etc... If you eat it for breakfast, it can have butter!
I had a pop-tart for breakfast this morning on my way to work -- cold and eaten directly from the foily wrapper. Brown Sugar Cinnamon with no icing and they can't be generic, its just not the same. I eat them toasted with butter when I have time. I don't like any of the icing ones, with the exception of chocolate fudge.
Leave them raw...yeah that is they way to eat POP-TARTS. I don't understand how this makes them anymore portable...I thought they were pretty portable before.
pop tarts are good no matter what. that's about it.
Butter? On poptarts? Groooooooooooosssss!
But I do love, love, love them firy hot with ice cream on top.
