Need some ideas

Busy Girl is a little more than half-way through camp. I don't want to wish it away for her, but, I am so ready for her to come home!

Anyway, I try to send her a package once a week, but, I'm running out of ideas about what to put in it. Food and candy is out, they are really trying to cut down on it. I have sent magazines, disposable cameras, stationery, pens, markers, bubbles, glo-bracelets, and, some other assorted doo dads.

Help! Give me some more ideas!

What about some pictures of all of you back home? Or, can you contact some of her friends and have them write her a letter to include in the care package? Or no? Would that make her more homesick?

This is going to sound odd, but my mom would send me weird stuff about halfway through camp, like new socks, a cool shirt, a new hat; I even got a new bathing suit once. It was great to add something new to my wardrobe!

I just read Judy's comment and she and I had the same idea about pictures. Maybe family, maybe some of her favorite things.

Does she have post cards with postage on them, and possibly already addressed?

How about the perfume things in magazines, stickers, duct tape (sooooo many possibilities) and a few things of Silly Putty?

Those are the things in my purse. That's why I gave those suggestions. ;-)

Silly string and lots of it. It has many uses. :)

Hey Busy Mom!

I sent E-lo some new hair stuff the last week of camp, including two flower bobby pins from the dollar bin at Target, a funky watch that I got on serious super sale at Wal-mart and a game that she could play with her cabin mates... a big hit all around. I sent Addie a chef's hat with a lobster on it (again - dollar bin) and that was a huge hit. All silly stuff... they ended up using some of the stuff in the skits of the last week, so they both loved the seriously silly stuff.

What about Mad Libs? Do they still make those? Or I used to like those quiz books with the magic pen that revealed the answers. Do they still make those?

I know you've already sent stationery, but how about a funky-looking journal-type book that she can use as an autograph book? Maybe a selection of pens that write all different colours? Then her new (and long-time) camp friends can write her a note in their colour of choice in the book . It would be a keepsake for her.

You must miss her so much!

Mad libs??

nail polish, stickers, candy flavored chapstick, single-use flossers, sunglasses, hat or visor, fuzzy socks, jammies, pillowcase, t-shirt, address book, frisbee, beach ball, single serving kool-aid, temporary tattoos and pretty much anything they sell at Limited Too.

I sent my daughter some crazy straws and a clown wig. But she's extra-silly, and that stuff was right up her alley. I also sent fingernail polish and puzzle books.

Silly string! Rhonda is so smart. Would you send me some, too?

I was at Target yesterday and they have the most darling (and inexpensive) jewelry making kits. It would be fun to do this with her friends.

Also, when I went to sleep away camp, my parents would send me comic books. I think that is the only time I read them... but LOVED receiving and reading them.

You can also send her a small scrapbook and ask her to take pictures and create a journal/photobook of her adventures.

.... of course, snacks and sweets are always loved!

Mad libs is a great idea, kids love those. Silly string will probably get her in trouble! lol

You can write a letter or send a picture in jigsaw puzzle form. Just glue the letter or photo on some cardboard and cut it up for her to put together.

Nail polish is a good idea. Hair doo dads too.

I can't think of anything else.

Jump rope? Soccer ball? How about a book: "Sex and the Single Girl"? No?

Anything to do with hair - rubber bands, barrettes, scrunchies. If she's in a room full of girls, they'll get used. Maybe she could give some away at the end of camp to some new friends as a souvenir?

Send her gag/prank items. My mom sent my niece these things on my advice and they were a HUGE hit. Anything you think won't get her in too much trouble- plastic ants and rubber roaches are always good, ice cubes with bees in them- You know what I mean. She'll have a lot of fun with her friends using them.

uh oh - I thought just candy & gum were out... I sent New Orleans kids boxes with junk food other than candy & gum... i.e. granola bars, peanut butter crackers, chips... hope the New Orleans kids don't get in big trouble! Mad Libs is a great idea though!

I'm with Lindsay... whoopee cushions, rubber snakes,... I'd scour the dollar store toy aisle.

Stuff to scrapbook with...wicky sticks from Hobby Lobby are fun...a journal with a promise to pay so much for each page completed. A challenge to meet everyone at camp...

Oh I forgot about Mad Libs...I loved those! Hey I could use weekly care packages this summer at my office. Preferably with a little wine. ;)

A small photo album to put the pictures she takes. (And a coupon for developing.)
A special note to open for each day that she is there.

How about some glow in the dark stuff? Bracelets, necklaces, etc. that she she can pass around to her buddies?

Wish you could send her some brain. No ! No ! That's really needed out there. ):

Nways joking! I think eveything's included in all the above suggestions.

My daughter just got home from 2 weeks at camp. Her care-package had many of the items you already listed, but I also included a little address book for her to collect information to keep in touch with camp friends. And silly putty.

My daughter only goes to camp for 5 days. I'm lucky to get a letter off to her before she gets home!

I like the idea of glow in the dark stuff. My SIL brought some bracelets for the girls while we were all camping, and they were a huge hit.

I'm back, because I forgot: Duct Tape!!

Surely everything she has is broke by now.

Send her one picture a day of all of you guys, or make a puzzle out of a picture and send her a piece each day where she has to put it together.
Or you could send her a variety of pictures holding up signs that eventually sends her a message. Like We, then the next day, Miss, then the next day, You or whatever you guys say to each other. My mom did a variation of this for me when I went to camp and it was wonderful.

How about a yoyo, jacks, pick up sticks, dominoes and playing cards? She can use them to play with the other girls in the evenings.

How about the stuff to make friendship braclets with or a rubix cube!
