The Fifth of July is not nearly as fun

Had a lovely time at the fourladsnme household for the Fourth of July. After the parade yesterday, we went swimming, and, back to the house and cooked out. Their new house is situated where we could see fireworks from a few different towns, so we sat outside to watch while performing the ceremonial singing of the John Denver songs.

What? Why are you looking at me like that? Seriously? What do you mean "that's not an age old American tradition"?

Any, any, anyway, we are home. For some reason, I've been seized by a foul mood usually reserved for Sunday evenings. It's the kind of thing where if, say, someone brought home a steak burrito instead of a steak quesadilla (a "danged quesa-dilla" for all you Napoleon Dynamite fans) someone might have had his head taken off.

I'm just going to have to wait it out with this ice cream.

Ugh. I'm in a foul mood too.
No fun.
Wish I could just sit and watch fireworks tonight.

I don't have ice cream, but I have Baileys.

Ice cream always helps me when I get caught in such a mood.

There are other ways to cheer yourself up, actually. I've just written the other 2 simple ways in my blog.

Helpful enough with me! ;D

Gosh, I can't think of many things that can ruin a good 4th of July more than John Denver songs. . . .sheesh! Well, at least you saw fireworks. Some of us in the "year 'round school" world didn't even GET to see fireworks because of having to get the toddler to bed early so that we could both be out of the house by 7:00 AM. Ugh. The first day of school sucks the big one.

Glad you had a nice 4th - John Denver songs included! We're still celebrating here - 6 inches of rain in 3 hours will do that to you!

I was in an exceptionally foul mood yesterday as well.
Didn't get much better by the end of the day, so I just went to bed.
Today, hopefully, will offer more optimism.

The holiday falling on a Tuesday totally messed with my "equillibrium." Monday and Tuesday felt like Saturday and Sunday...Wednesday felt like Monday...which is never a good thing. May take a while to get back on track!

For the first time since I can remember, we totally blew off the fireworks thing. If I had to sing John Denver songs with them, I'd skip them every year!

OK, I love John Denver, so I won't hear a word against him.

What kind of ice cream? My favorite is Starbucks Mocha Almond Fudge.

Siezed by a mood fowl, eh? Even after ceremonial singing of John Denver songs? After quesadillas no less?

It happens.

Singing John Denver songs in public can get you arrested in these northern parts of the country. ;)

Hope the ice cream helps you... uh... chill.

Nodding. Nodding. You might need more than a pint you know... go for the half gallon. And screw the low-fat variety. This is medicinal.

I actually left the fourth of July family gathering for a mood-improving milkshake from Brewsters, so I totally feel ya'.

We stuck to the house this Independence Day, too. Just felt like another day. But we did get to see a few fireworks from the nearby Faire.
