Busy Boy is 10 today! Like every other children's birthday post, this one begins with, "It's hard to believe..."
It's hard to believe 10 years ago today someone said, "It's a boy!" "What iin the world do I do with a boy?", I thought to myself. I probably say this every year, but, you see, I am an only child who comes from a long line of only children who are girls, and, boys just weren't a factor. It's a good thing Busy Dad is the youngest of 4 boys.
I can remember carrying him around in his little pink blanket (hey, I had just had a girl not long before, and, it makes him mad when I say that) and we watched a lot of the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. Actually, I was stuck at home and way too into them. "Can't talk right now, the archery finals are on...".
I am kind of sad he won't be here today to celebrate, he's going to the river with friends and will be back tomorrow.
He's a fine young man, and, I'm excited for what's in store for him as he gets older. I'm glad he's taught me about boys, because, who knew I'd be doing it again 6 short years later?

My own busy boy turned 9 yesterday! It sure goes fast. Didn't know what I would do with a boy either but certainly can't imagine my life without him now. Love him and so proud of what he is! Happy birthday to you busy boy!

On a tangent, i am always relieved to hear other moms say they had no idea what to do with a boy until they had one. My own sweet boy was born in April and I was scared to death of him at the beginning. Now, we're good. :) He's my little man and I can't imagine life without him :)
My son was four months when the 1996 Olympics were on. I have video tape of him falling asleep in his Jolly Jumper with the closing ceremonies playing in the background. (He was more fun ti watch than the Olympics!)
Another thing we share in common... July 12th is the day my daughter turned 10.
