Say, do you remember? Does anybody really know what time it is?

[begin Aging Baby Boomer]

I have been stuck in the music of the 70's and early 80's lately for some reason. (Why, yes, I am pretty sure that's a sign of aging, why do you ask? Speak louder, please, and, how did that print get to be so small?)

Anyways, I'm watching this on Public Television right now, and, omg, why didn't I get thee to the amphitheater when they were here?! Now this is music, it must have been a blast! The Earth, Wind and Fire bass player is the happiest man I have ever seen. I am cracking up at the audience shots of this show because everyone there is clones of, well, me and my friends. Here's part of it.

I am so buying this DVD for myself and I have never owned a concert DVD that's not a kid video. Though I wouldn't trade my life now for anything, this era brings back so many memories of a time when life's biggest dilemma was what you were going to wear to the Jackson Browne concert.

Well, back in my day...wait...hey, you kids, get offa my lawn.

Does anybody really care? ;-)

OMG how I loved Earth,Wind,And Fire. Darn you, now I am putting that DVD on my birthday wishlist! My Husband is still laughing at me... :-)

Now I don't feel so old and awkward that next week I am going to a Journey/Def Lep concert!! (my husband is such a romantic for our anniversary)

Give a damn to others, its your life, live it as you like. Enjoy!!

I love that old (ish) music. Does that give away my age? Or just indicate that I like good music.

If you want to find out almost nothing about Grape-Nuts, check my latest post.

Hey, digging Earth, Wind & Fire isn't a sign of anything but good taste! Verdine White is utterly fantastic. I saw them last year at Starwood and they rocked the house.

I saw Christopher Cross a couple years ago (it was a fluke, he was part of something else we were at)- it was fantastic. We ran out and bought his greatest hits cd and bug the ever lovin' crap out of the kids by playing it loud.

I used to have a bootleg (I think) Chicago concert on tape that was kick ass. This was long before they became a glorified elevator-music producer for movie soundtracks.

I wish I still had it (stupid teenagers never know what they have of value) and I've tried to find it but to no avail.

There's a reason the music industry is worried about sales, and it has nothing to do with Napster. It's because nowadays they push crap on us and expect us to dig it like we did when actual musicians roamed the earth.

Sigh.

Was there anything cooler than that Emmycast where they paired Earth, Wind & Fire with the Black Eyed Peas?

Yeah, I know what you mean. You watch those PBS concert specials during pledge weeks and you laugh at all those OLD PEOPLE in the audience boogeying away... and it's not until you actually go to one of those concerts and glance around the room and realize that those old people are your contemporaries. (Don't know why *I* haven't aged as badly as they have!!)

Some concerts transcend time. One of my favorites was Natalie Cole and Ben E. King, right after Natalie came out with "Pink Cadillac". My parents rented a table on the floor at Chastain Park in Atlanta for my 13th birthday. I had three of my best friends with me and we had a BLAST. Best. Concert. Ever. :)

So I have been listening to the oldies radio station - is that a bad thing? I really like the songs they play.

I am so laughing at you... But sadly, my 13 year old only knows Bon Jovi as a country (wanna be) singer for his duet with some lady country singer. She was listening to some songs her dad put on her computer and Bon Jovi (from the 80's) was on, it was hilarious - she could get the fact that Bon Jovi was a rocker from mommy's youth. Hilarious, in a slightly senile way.

My son's high school band is doing a CHICAGO show for the season! I was so excited when I found out! It sure made the prospects of my son going to high school for his first year, better in my opinion. The kids are crazy about the music and the show. I am turning into a Band nerds, Nerdy Mom. Wooo, Hooooo!

There was something better than Prohect Runway on? That involved smiling, not snarking? Yeah!

I'm so addicted to XM's 70s and 80s channels. I've preordered this single-component stereo thingie (for lack of a better word) for my kitchen that's part XM transmitter, part CD player, part iPod dock. I'll think I've died and gone to heaven.

I adore EW&F. Their Greatest Hits album is one of my all-time faves. Not sure which songs I enjoy most--maybe "Shining Star" and "After The Love Is Gone."

It is NOT old music. We are NOT old. It is simply music from a time of our life that revives wonderful memories of easy times!! BTW-everybody pitch in $1 so we can FILL the gas tank to cruise ALL night! (It cost me $5 to fill my gas tank when I was a junior in high school.) :(

My mixmania! thing brings home how old I am when the younger participants mix disks with bands I've never heard of.

On the other hand, it's delightful to see how much into 70s/80s music the younger generation is.

We took the lads to this concert in St. Louis last summer - outdoors, of course. It was so much fun! What was even better - our lads knew more of the words to the songs than we did (or at least could remember!!)!

you mean other groups beside the wiggles make videos?

I'm just thankful that we still have the 'memory' part of Memory Lane...*sigh*
