Occasionally, nice people who have somehow come to believe I am literate, send me nice books to read and share with you. I am free to write whatever I'd like, there's no incentive to say positive things, and, I don't read things I'm not interested in. Normally, I keep track of them over in the sidebar, but, lately I haven't done that part. So, I'll just catch you up on what I've read (a lot of mother and daughter stuff, apparently) here. In no particular order:
Come Back: A Mother and Daughter's Journey Through Hell and Back by Claire and Mia Fontaine.
Spellbinding and my greatest nightmare all at once. The story of Mia running away, abuse, addiction and survival told through both Mia, and, her mother, Claire's perspectives. Claire works for years to reclaim her daughter, and, in turn, discovers life can never be the same. Be sure to visit Claire's blog, too.
Lunch Lessons: Changing the Way We Feed Our Children by by Ann Cooper and Lisa Holmes
This is timely considering it's back to school and all. Now, I will admit, my family's eating habits, while not outrageous, are certainly not the stuff of nutritional awards. I am also always on the lookout for something different for the lunchboxes, so, I read this with interest. While I'm not one to pile on the villify school lunches bandwagon, this book also includes good information about children's health and nutrition. There are some good, simple recipes, too.
Home Team Advantage: The Critical Role of Mothers in Youth Sports by Brooke de Lench
This book covers issues from playing time, developmnental appropriateness for sports, winning, raising athletic daughters, balancing sports with family to why mothers make great coaches. A must read for people, especially mothers, with kids in organized sports.

How do you have time to read?? I keep going to the library, picking out books, bringing them home, moving them from one location in the house to another, renewing them, moving them some more, returning them to the library, and paying a late fee for the privlege of having to move the book all over the house!
My GOD you are busy. Seriously. But sounds like some good reads. Go take a nap, you deserve it.
I made the oven fried chicken out of the lunch book and it was good. I threw away the organic pregancy book because neither of those words apply to me.
I guess I should read the one about the moms and sport, but I'm so busy driving everyone to their sports that I have no time to read. When do the Cliff Notes come out??
