Football pads are the work of the devil. If you've never stuffed pads into football pants, you have no idea what I'm talking about. If you have, then, you'll likely agree with me.
No matter how hard you try, there does indeed come a time when those suckers gotta be washed.

yesah, I guess I never have stuffed football pads. Is that something you have to do when you take part of it out to wash it? ugh. You're right. Those things gotta be done... like washing pillows every so often, huh?
P.S. you're a busy bloggin' mamma today!
go to bed!!!
I made the mistake of reading this post before I read the title. :O
so...uhhh...err...you are playing football now or is this some sort of kinky, mid-life, bedroom fantasy thing?
(you don't wanna leave this to our imaginations *grin*)
That is the easy part. The hard part was getting issued the equipment......it was like being enlisted. Jersey, pants, helmet, shoulder pads, tailbone & hip pads & shorts, thigh pads, knee pads, shoes, you have locker #100.......ok, you're outta here....let me know if it fits!
I took them out a total of twice.
Twice.
After that... they were washed IN the pants. Yeah, they kind of 'float' so you have to rub them insanely with stain stick and then put them on heavy duty wash with white towels to 'scrub' them and lots of detergent and bleach.
But... it works. Coffeekid was a hard and heavy messy player who loved playing or practicing right after it rained because he could see if he could get so dirty the white pants didn't show one inch of white anymore.
And goll-darn if Mom didn't get them white again every. time.
(even with the pads IN). LOL.
Being the huge ex-jock that I am, (well I guess among your regular readers I probably am...) I have advice.
Have the little PacMan but the pants on without the pads and go out to play for awhile. That stretches the fabric out enough to make it easier to cram those little bastards in.
Good luck with that.
Yet another reason I'm glad Seth isn't playing football.lol
All I have to say is...AMEN!
There is nothing worse than the smell of pads for sports...my son started when he was young and had arm pads (for the lower arm) to help defray some of the bruising from blocking.
I used to work in the athletic dept of a college...you have never smelled anything as bad as a football locker room or a ice hockey locker room--it is nasty.
You anticipated that I was going to tell you just not to wash them. Okay, you try your way, I'll try mine, and we can compare pics of football pants at the end of the season.
If only there was a way to compare the smell over the internet. Woe for THAT missed opportunity!
Let's just hope my kiddos stick to soccer like their daddy. I can handle nasty socks. And I don't really care whether or not the stains come out. But, then again, I don't generally do the laundry, so I guess I don't care all that much. Hmmm...bring on the football! :D I'm just really hoping that they don't want to play rugby. Not sure my nerves could handle that!
I had to post. this is our first year with football but we found practice pants with built in pads. they NEVER have to be removed. easy to wash. good luck
Oh great, yet another stinky thing to look forward to. Thanks for the warning!
they are So annoying! there are like 120230032189 pads that have to go in the pants and the girdle and wherever else! i was totally overwhelmed when i first got them!
yea, they need to be washed like after each wearing... joy joy!
When I was in high school, I remember trying to get football pants that fit. At 6'7" and a strapping 155 pounds, it was pretty hard to find knee pads that actually got down to my knees. Yeah, it was REAL hard to stuff the pads into the pants. But it was a lot more frustrating to have the knee pads covering my lower thigh. I've still got the scars on my knees!
I SO know what you are talking about; sports boy couldnt' do it himself, I didn't have the first CLUE what to do, practice was like 4 times a week (last year) and theh pants were white, so I was ALWAYS washing them.. I feel for you sista!
I am truly mystified...!
Spoken like a true mother. I never found them hard to get in and out of my pants. My mom found me hard to get in and out of my pants. :)
Since you have children involved now with soccer, I will warn you that should one of them become a goalie... those pants/pads are equally devilish to the football pants.
