These are. The days. Of our lives.

Don't you hate it when you you get all excited because there's a new entry on a blog you want to read, and, then the entry says something like, "Not much happening."?

Worse yet, is the meta-"not much happening" post, wherein one writes about the perils of writing about "not much happening", which I have apparently just done to you.

Seriously, though, pretty much all I do is work and haul my dad around. It's OK, just time consuming. He's no better, but, no worse, either. His next appointment with the surgeon isn't until Tuesday. They called in some pain meds for him yesterday, so we've got, More Crankiness! Now with Narcotics!

Gotta go. Damn laptop battery. Weren't you guys supposed to remind me to go get a new one? Help me, I'm drainiiiiiiingggg...

The folks over at Hamburger Helper are conducting a grant contest for local non-profit groups raising funds to positively impact their community in some way. Here's how it works:

Every month through May 2007, Hamburger Helper will choose one 501(c)(4) organization for a monetary grant of up to $15,000. All the group has to do is to register online with www.myhometownhelper.com and complete an essay of two hundred and fifty words or less describing how they the need help. More information here

Maybe it's time for one of those story thingies, you know, where you get us started and we entertain you with our ribald and witty repartee.

That, or margaritas. Take your pick.

Hamburger Helper! See, that's not nothing, that's something. It's a staple in my house!

I keep wondering if I'm going to run out of material as my kids mature and leave me with nothing to write about and then I look at my husband and see how fruitful a subject matter he is (i.e. post on "smoking" our escaped hamster out of the wall) and then I'm confident about future inspiration.

Hey Busy Mom,
My husband had a lumbar lam (L4 -L5) when he was 19. It took him about a month to recover (this was about 12 years ago). I do remember him commenting at the time that there was an immediate relief from the pain. (It was the first thing he said when he woke up in the recovery room.)

If you have any specific questions, feel free to email. Otherwise, I can tell you that he does have to stretch quite often to keep the muscles from tightening up on him, but he skydives (he says that helps), plays golf, and is generally just as active as he was back then - aside from that whole I'm not a teenager anymore thing :)

I bet the surgery has gotten a whole lot more sophisticated in the last 12 years, so maybe your Dad will not have too much trouble with it.
