Who knew?My 80 year old MIL stayed with us last week while I was out of town. We were driving somewhere and listening to the radio and Busy Girl said something about a John Mayer song.
MIL: "John Mayer doesn't sing that one."
Busy Girl: ?
MIL: "Yeah, I really like his stuff, 'Daughters' is my favorite."
Me: ?
MIL: "I was so shocked when I saw him on some show, I had no idea he was a young white guy."
Me: "Yep, he sure is, he's been busy lately, too."
MIL: "Yeah, but, Jessica Simpson was just using him. She can't get her own publicity anymore, so she latched onto him, but, even though she said they were dating, they weren't."

That's like the night that I was having dinner with one of the older ladies at church, and she announced that she used to listen to Smashmouth and loved that song "Might As Well Be Walking on the Sun."

Your MIL must watch CSI -- that or she reads magazines in the check-out line.

BTW, I saw a new lowermybills.com ad with the shadow of two dudes dancing in the dark. Weird! They're doing some sort of line dance thing...just plain bizarre.
She's old but she sure ain't dead! I think when I am 80 I will be sure to subscribe to all the gossip magazines. It'll make for good bridge group fodder.
80 isn't really old anymore. I hope I'm still keeping up with stuff like that when I'm that age. That's what keeps you young.
So did you ask her whether Madonna is REALLY adopting a kid?

I'm lucky if my granny can remember that it's her turn in our Scrabble match.
80 is the new 60 or something like that. My mother is a very stylin' granny, although I don't think she listens to John Mayer.

Given the fact that she knew all of that I am feeling a little embarassed that I don't even know who John Mayer is.............
