The Evolution of Christmas Shopping

In an effort to make good on my vow of, "Never again!" made last year on December 24th, I have been thinking about getting ready to maybe start contemplating Christmas shopping.

Here's how it's gone:

December 24th, 2005 - "Never again!" said in mall late on Christmas Eve.

January 2nd, 2006 - "Maybe I should look for some gifts for this year" -said in mall at after Christmas extravaganza.

January 2nd, 2006 - "Nah" - said in same mall 5 minutes later.

January, 13th 2006 - Went on annual girls trip to the beach, looked on with curiosity as one member of our shopping party completed the majority of her Christmas, 2006 shopping.

January 13, 2006 - "Maybe I should do that, too" - said at outlet mall

January 13, 2006 - "Look! A purse for me!" - said at aformentioned outlet mall's Coach outlet

Time passes

July, 2006 - note "Christmas in July" sales at mall.

July, 20006 - "Look! A purse for me! Here's my money!"

July, 2006 - "I vow to start my Christmas shopping before the "r" months begin" - said with new purse on arm.

July, 2006 - "Yep, I'm gonna be finished Christmas shopping and have the gifts wrapped by Thanksgiving. Yessiree, that's gonna be me. I'll start tomorrow."

Time passes

October 15, 2006 - "Wow, the stores are getting more and more Christmas stuff in, now's a good time to shop. I'd better get on it so I can stretch the expenses out over the next few weeks. Look! A purse for me!"

October 19, 2006 - "Look! Hundreds of dollars in school and sports fees due!"

October 23, 2006 - "OK, at least I can go ahead and look around and make a plan for gifts. I'll just peruse some places online. Look! I can spend all this cool time online at places to help me get ready to think about planning Christmas!"

So, you can see where I've gotten with the task so far.

What? You were looking for inspiration?

No - I was trying to figure out what to get my mother for her birthday this week. I don't think a card is going to cut it and my sister already got her the book she mentioned. I think there should be a rule that no birthday's are allowed 2 months before & after Christmas to reduce stress for the gift givers and their pretty purses!

eBay, Amazon, LLBean. They are my friends at this time of year. Click, click, be done!

I concur with online shoppers. Click click click by Dec. 21st, click on 'express' pay the extra fees, and you might as well have finished six months early for all that anyone will know :)

I bought a purse today. For me. Was that wrong?

I'm all about online shopping. Try overstock.com and oldnavy.com as well as terrysvillage.com and lillianvernon.com (for those cutesy gotta-get-a-gift-for-that-person gifts). That's how I'm shopping this year!

VJ upon receiving her mail, "Oh look, they sent the kiddy "Skidboot Makes Friends" VHS instead of the "Best Of" DVD I asked for.

"You've got mail" VJ's computer.

VJ reads, "We are sorry for the mistake, please keep the tape and we will send the DVD out today."

VJ: "I've got my Christmas gift for niece and nephew. Now about the rest of the family...."

That is the same conversation I had with myself on Xmas Eve last year, and I, too, have continued the dialogue all throughout the year.
Maybe next year......

I am right there with you Busy Mom.......and on Dec 24, I will be the woman with dark, frazzled looking hair being kicked out of the store while begging the cashier for just two more minutes to get that gift for uncle Charlie!

I went through a lot of trouble last year at Christmas because of last minute shopping and was quite annoyed with myself... This year I am going to finish my shopping list by Halloween for sure.... Peep into this amazing Christmas Blog to check out some really cool stuffs and unique ideas

I'm done with holiday shopping for this year because I've picked up things at art fairs and stuff through the year.

Before you smack me around, allow me to say that I've done this before but always forgot what I'd bought and for whom. This is the first year that I won't open a clsoet in June and think "Wow, that was supposed to go to the Red-Headed-She-Devil last Christmas."

I know where you are coming from. I am already putting off my shopping. I had planned on doing the whole 5 AM start and mad dashes through the stores on Black Friday. That is a bust now that I will be out of state that weekend. My sister cannot get away that weekend and Grandma, well she doesn't want to run.

Who will go with me? Come on Busy Mom, join me for mad dash shopping. How close are you to Tennessee? Oh well, guess I will shop after Black Friday. Putting the shopping off again....until December???

I was at Target yesterday and saw a cool toy marked down half price and didn't buy it. I'll probably regret it later but yeah soccer fees are due not to mention fall school portrait money! So I will wait again to the last minute and shop online at Amazon.

Waitaminit! How the heck can you seem me all the way over here in Texas?

Amazing!
