Sad news from the Wiggles.
Greg Page (the yellow one) is leaving the group due to a "serious illness". He's been absent from the tours for quite a while, and, the message boards have been put on hold until further notice. What is actually wrong with him has been a closely guarded secret, but, it doesn't sound good.
OK, OK, I don't go to the message board on my own, but, we do spend a lot of time on the site, and, that got my attention.
Call me names if you must, but, we love the Wiggles around here, and, I am honestly sad about this.
I guess it's a chance you take if your brand is people-dependent, but, still, the guy is only 35 or something, and, he has a wife and young children.
It will be interesting to see how the whole thing is handled, and, I think a lot of the Wiggles toys around here just became "vintage".

The Wiggles drove me crazy when the nieces were smitten with them a few years back.
But they were kind. You know how Mr. Rogers were kind.
And there's not a thing wrong with that.
This is sad.
That is sad. I think there's enough illness in the world without one of the kids' heros getting sick, too. Tis a shame.
I wondered what was up a few weeks back when they were on Regis and they had a different guy. It was oddly different. Oddly different in the same way it was after Jim Henson died and his son took over all his voices. It was REALLY weird when he'd do Ernie. He's gotten better at it though, thank goodness.
This is really sad. I hope perhaps he will recover. It will indeed be interesting to see how they handle him leaving. Perhaps the same way Blues Clues handed the first guy leaving (the second guy is his "cousin" because the first guy "left for college"). Yeah, they are kind of cheezy, but I like their message to the kids.
We have been "out" of the Wiggles for a bit now, so I didn't hear this, but you are right. Quite sad.
(Vintage? hmmm... where are all those old Wiggles toys ;)
Oh how awful! Even my older kids like singing some of the Wiggles songs still. I'll be praying for Greg and his family.
Very sad. I actually went to a Wiggles concert earlier this year with my nephew, and my sister was not too happy that he (Greg) wasn't able to be there!
I had no idea. My kiddo is 3 and we just recently discovered The Wiggles (because we live under a rock apparently). We both love The Wiggles. It's the only kiddie music that I enjoy. We all rock out and do some interpretive dancing to Hot Potatoe every night before bed.
We haven't watched much Wiggles in several years, because girls didn't love them as much as my oldest son, but Greg was always my favorite. :(
And it is hard enough that one of the favorite videos around here is the one with Steve Irwin in it.
This is so sad. He's only 35.... he should have a LONG career ahead of him. Lets all hope he does!

I k now what you ean. I looked at my grandsnon's Wiggle collection and thought they may be a collectors item one day. Poor Greg. We wish him well.
