I'm starting to get the scrambly brain over all the Christmas related stuff that needs to be done.
I've done some shopping, but, I can't sort out what I've bought because the under 5 foot insurgents never sleep anymore. That's another post for another time, seems like weekday evenings are getting wilder and wilder.
I am bound and determined to get things wrapped, though because we have had one too many 3am Christmas Eves at our house.
If you have students or teachers in the house, you know how the last couple of days before vacation can be: exams, this party, that party, money for teacher gifts, what to get for a nun, is it appropriate to get the preschool teachers something from the liquor store? You know the drill.
Then, there's the whole issue of the dinner thing. I've been in charge of Christmas for a few years now as my mother's health declined, but, somehow it seems more daunting when she's not here to at least advise me.
OK, that was dramatic, it's not like I have a million people to cook for, but, well, cooking for me is dramatic. I wonder if I can put the beef tenderloin in the crockpot? Kidding. If I'm going to screw up a cut of meat that costs more than my Visa payment, then I'll screw it up in a standard roasting manner.
Speaking of Visa, I got a book of "courtesy" checks in the mail to "use with your VISA account!"
Only problem was they were for an account I had no idea I had. Apparently, the mortgage company was kind enough to open an account for us when we refinanced a while back.
I steeled myself for an AOL-style (has sound) battle and called to cancel it, and, the nice guy on the phone said: "OK, it's done, thanks!"
Me: "Come on, you're kidding, right?
Nice guy: "Um, no."
Me: "You're not going to ask why I'm canceling?"
Nice guy: "..."
Me: "You're not going to tell me how I can move other balances to this card?"
Nice guy: "No. I'm not."
Me: "Well, OK. Thanks!"
Heh, speaking of people on the other end of the phone. I had to speak to someone from an OB GYN office. While we were talking, her computer went wild, and, apparently she was on a screen she hadn't seen before.
OB GYN lady: "Geez, what is this? I have gone somehwere no man has been before!"
Me: " Is that like, OB GYN humor?"
P.S. I've been messing with my RSS feeds, if I've screwed something up, use the link in the right sidebar over there ==> to re-subscribe. The handsome and talented Jackson has been helping me, but, I'm not sure I'm trainable.

You're not going to disclose to us that this is a paid review of Visa for the folks at PayPerPost.com? ;)
Now give us all the name of the company so we can call them and get all of our business to them!
Can you wrap presents at work? I am stashing some Santa loot here in a file drawer.
Have you ever grilled a beef tenderloin? That's the only way we've ever had it (the ONLY way New Orleans Father will cook it) and he has some special sauce that he bastes it with while it's grilling. I can get you the recipe if you want. It totally rocks. and it's good too!
and I got the HSM DVD Remix - thanks for the instant text! I was standing in Borders at the dvd rack so your timing was quite impeccable! (sp?)
We have a tradition (read: rule) in our house that no one steps foot out of their room on Christmas morning until they hear the Christmas music playing. That gives the grownups time to make sure Santa didn't get drunk on the egg nog and make a total mess of the place. (Nudge, nudge. Wink, wink. Say no more.)
Ah, you are not being overly dramatic. I call my mom every time I bake something: "Now, are you sure a stick of butter?" so my heart hurts for you this Christmas. I am glad you have lots of people that will give you extra hugs and support.
I'm with jamie. I wrapped all my presents at work this year. Yes, I took a little ribbing from the security people as I buzzed myself in and out of the building with bags of gifts, but it was just sooooo much easier.
