Coffee of the Day: Diet Coke
Listening to: Holly on XM radio
Today's Mental Jukebox Selection: The Chanukah Song. (Why can I never remember the name of that site? I have to look it up every single time.)
Taking: Yet another Chicago Tribune Holiday Quiz
Wasting time: Linerider (poor guy)
Not writing about: The ridiculous Time Magazine "Person of the Year" thing. Oops...
Christmas Update: Bought some stuff, still need to get other stuff. Christmas cards may be New Year's Valentine's Day cards. Ordered a ham, getting free turkey at work (because nothing says, "Merry Christmas" like thousands of people carrying frozen poultry around the halls). Still need to order beef tenderloin, but, am hesitating at being responsible for cooking a cut of meat that is more than a car payment.

tenderloin -
my mouth is watering......... & my wallet crying.
I wonder if Smitten Kitchen would have any tenderloin knowledge to impart to prevent any disasters?
Frozen poultry! Frozen poultry! Frozen pooooo-ultry! (sung to the tune of Hallelujah!)
I only scored 65% on that one. I totally guessed on a couple of them, like when electric tree lights were introduced and when Kwanzaa started!
You had me at "Diet Coke"...*big sigh*
I love Holly on XM. Sunny (24) is all Christmas, too.
Have your butcher trim the tenderloin and put it in a net thing with a strap of fat.
Take it home and salt and pepper it a lot. Remember you are going to put it on a bar-b-que pit. When the coals are good and hot put on pit fat side up 15 minutes then fat side down 15 minutes then fat side up for another 15 minutes. Take off and let sit at least 10 minutes before carving. Ends will be less rare and middle will be perfect. It is the only damn thing I can cook blindfolded. I seem to be asked to bring this to most parties I attend. This is a blessing and a curse. Hope it works out for you!
Turkey. Bowling.
It must be done. Certainly you can find a nice, newly waxed floor someplace?
Hey, I'm the person of the year! I went and bought myself a gift to celebrate. But then I bitched about the cheap gift, because apparently I'm a tightwad.
What year is it? Can somebody let these bosses know that there is more to the message they are supposed to take away from A Christmas Carol?
Linerider! I made him do a loop-da-loop once...
Hey, I got a free turkey at work today too! And Elvis was there...
Let's go back to caroling. I sucked at this quiz (60% - unacceptable for anal-retentive perfectionists!)
So, I was hoofing it at midnight to pick up my turkey, not because I plan on eating it, but for the principal. Why can't they give us a gift certificate, something that doesn't weigh 20 lbs and have to be refrigerated? Have you ever gotten the tofurkey?
Oh, btw, did you happen to see the recipe for Coffee-Roasted Beef Tenderloin in the NY Times a couple of weeks ago? I made it last week and it was unbeLIEVEable. Let me know if you want the recipe, or I'm sure you can find it on the nytimes site.
Creating a Mosque at Ground Zero has to really be the bizzare idea during the history of humans, I definitely sense it to be maliciously conceived, at very best, to insight controversy. I'm no conspiracy theorist yet unfortunately this really is possibly shameful or hateful, most probably both of them. alexandra
