XM Radio and Sirius to merge?Rumor has it that the satellite radio stations XM radio and Sirius are announcing a merger at the Detroit Auto Show today.
My long standing (OK, two years, but, whatever) love affair with XM radio is well documented, even if it has messed with my head in the past, so I don't want to lose any stations, and, I darn sure don't want to have to get a new receiver, and, I don't want some sort of "tiered" service like cable TV, either.
I tried out Sirius online, but, I was not impressed save for Radio Margaritaville.

We have a Sirius and I am in love with station 22, the old skool alternarock station. It keeps me amused for hours!
They can merge if they want, but if they take away Sirius' station 22, there will be hell to pay!!!
My big complaint about Sirius is the commercials. Does XM have as many commercials?
Well......the only thing we seem to listen to on Sirius is the Disney channel. Hannah Montanna is burned into my tympanic membranes.
XM plays at the gym and it seems pretty decent.
I find this very hard to believe. There are only two licenses for satellite radio stations that the FCC is allowing.
The merger implications and "monopoly" issues are huge.
I think this is more wishful thinking on sombody's part. But of course what the heck do I know. I refuse to pay for radio. However, I get a bunch of XM radio stations along with DirecTV, so I get to enjoy the benefits of it for free.
Ooh! Thanks for the RadioMargaritaville link!
