Oklahoma City Anniversary

So many terrible things going on lately, but, I just wanted to note that today is the 12 Anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing.

Can you believe it?

The anniversary will always be Busy Girl's age. She wasn't yet one, and, I was at her daycare when I heard about it.

That has always shaken me up, since the morning of April 19, 1995 started out as a normal day for many people at a daycare in the Alfred P. Murrah Building.

We said we would never forget, so, I am just trying to keep my word.

I remember.... and I can respect what you're doing, more people should keep these kind of promises

I remember, too.

I was there. I am a survivor emotionally as it was a tough day. Thanks for remembering. Hopefully the world won't forget.

My birthday is April 19. For many years I could not celebrate because the date was so emotionally charged. Time has eased the pain, but I could never possibly forget.

Today is also the anniversary of the Columbine tragedy. April - traditionally thought of as a time of things (plants, flowers, trees) coming back to life after winter - can't be thought of in the same way now.

Thank you.

A prayer for all the families and victims. A prayer for our country. A prayer for our children. All have been lifted during this time of sadness and rememberance. Thank you for your post.

In a similar vein, my daughter started day care on September 10, 2001. Her day care was at a large MBTA station, which the police evacuated on 9/11 as a precaution before the extent of the situation was understood.

Though that day became so unforgettable on its own that it has changed the course of history, I found myself thinking about Oklahoma City that day as I raced to the day care to meet my wife and daughter to take them home.

I was in Oklahoma that day. The chorus I was in, had been traveling on tour (during our spring break). We were singing at an elementary school. I remember the expressions on people's faces, and how concerned we all were after hearing about the bombing.

I won't ever forget that day (or 9/11 either, being the day after my birthday, and before my mom's).

Thank you for the reminder.
