Yesterday.
Good grief.
I attempted to take the day off work to do a ton of things that needed doing.
And, we all know that "day off" exists only with the unicorns, but, I still thought I'd get to the end of the rainbow for some reason.
I had just begun my work, when school called, telling me that The Preschooler Formerly Known as Busy Baby may have broken his arm.
I got up, and, went back over to school, and, sure enough, he wasn't doing right.
What? "Ain't doin' right" is too a proper diagnosis.
So, off we went to the ER where they take pictures of things that are likely broken, and, 4.5 hours later, these pictures were negative.
It wasn't broken.
Dang, if I had money on that one, I would have lost. It sure looked broken to me.
Actually, he's still not using it, and, I'm still a little concerned. We may go back if this morning isn't better, but, we also got some athletic tape, to tape him up for his soccer game.
Relax. If he's better, and, wants to play, that's fine. If not, that's fine, too.
I hope he's OK because, often, he's the only one who will play. He's taken on other teams by himself at times, it's hilarious.
Anyway, I'm glad he's OK, but, my planned day off was pretty much a farce.
I can't really try again anytime soon because I don't have much vacation or sick time left, as I used much of it when my mother was sick.
Yes, there are real problems in the world, but, it was like living on a game board where the winner gets to complete a task.
Any task.
Been to the ER? Go back 3 spaces.
Get home during daylight hours, work day might be saved. Roll again.
Kid settled in watching movie? Skip ahead.
Close to getting work done? Kid builds a fort under your feet. Lose a turn.
Husband returns home from grocery? Pick another card.
Pack work tools, and, head to secret hideaway to work. Bonus!
Storm comes up, power goes out before you get upstairs. Move back to the blue square.
Set up computer in secret hideaway. Move 3 spaces ahead.
Phone rings, dad's computer died. He needs you to go to his work with him tonight so you can install programs he needs to use tomorrow. Go back to start.
Kids likely to be in bed on your return home. Draw a card.
Get home, middle child still up running around. Give 3 cards to the player on your right.
Too tired to do actual work. Game over.
P.S. I have a new post at GNM Parents
P.S.S. The answer is snowboarding.

As you probably saw in my twittering today, I surely do feel your pain. I got absolutely nothing done today. Glad your kiddo's okay-ish!
I would so be the winner of that game. At least I'd be the winner of something... :O)
I feel for you. I have also been known to take a day off to catch up around the house. I never get as much done as I planned, but usually end up feeling like it was worth the effort. However, broken arm...? Who saw that coming?
You need a drink.
unicorns = Ally McBeal
I MISS THAT SHOW.
I bet you could actually sell that at ToysRus!
Are you SURE you were on a Friday? That certainly sounds like a Monday routine to me.
So sorry your day sucked! I hope your lil' one is feeling better. Did they mention Nurse Maids Elbow. My daughter had that, we thought for sure it was broken and then the peds ER guy said give her some morphine, hold her down and we will pop the elbow back in where it should be. Within 10 minutes she was better and using that arm. Just a thought, hope your weekend gets better.
At least the scan result is okay. That's the brightside. I do hope he's okay and getting well soon.
Less 'candy land' more 'snakes and ladders' [translation = shutes and ladders
Cheers
I'm sure glad I don't know much. Nobody asks me to do anything. (Although I can sleep with the best of 'em.)
Oh yes. I have played THAT game!
