The House O' 24 Hour Fun

No dinner was cooked here at the House O' 24 Hour Fun, because, three days into summer vacation, and, the cupboards are bare.

I just ordered a pizza online from Papa John's.

I've never done that before.

Why am I skeptical that it will actually arrive?

Regular food was consumed mostly by vaguely unsatisfied short people walking in circles saying, "But, what are we going to do?"

The Not Yet Kindergartener Formerly Known as the Preschooler Formerly Known as Busy Baby is singing the theme from Drake and Josh at the top of his lungs as he stands, still in his bathing suit, about 6 inches from the TV.

We haven't seen Busy Girl in days, all the doors are wide open, and, the back yard is littered with every beach towel in the house.

There's no discernible bed time, and, morning always finds at least one kid that doesn't live here.

I've just been going to bed when I'm tired, so, I really don't know what's been happening after that.

Such is the life when you're the only one in the house who isn't on summer vacation.

Eventually, the House O' 24 Hour Fun will settle down, but, getting there always comes close to killing me.

UPDATED: Well, whadd'ya know? The pizza really did arrive.

Oh, I have a new post up at GNM Parents.

I ordered from Papa John's online last weekend and was pleasantly surprised to have the pizza man knocking on the door only 16 minutes after pushing submit. It works. It really works.

Does the pizza get better when you have to wait forever for it?

I'm sending my two to your house - you'll never even know they're there.

I'm a teacher too, so when school is out, the kids and I do just what your family is doing. We get up later, all meals are pushed back at least 2 hours. We go to bed later, I even stay up to watch Letterman. I LOVE summer.

This is the first year that I have gotten to partake in summer vacation and I am so enjoying it although all that changes tomorrow with the new kiddo arriving and my leisure time will be no more but the past two weeks have been bliss and I am going to miss it next year when I will be back at work :(

Yes, I'm afraid almost anything goes, as far as meals, during summer break. Just too much going on, too many people running here, there, and everywhere. Plus, mom's tired and needs a break.

Today is the last day of school here. I know my kids are looking forward to the lazy ways of summer, sleepovers, swimming, and sprinklers.

And the cupboards are bare here too. Mostly because I couldn't be bothered to go to the store.

I bet there are more franchises of House O'24 Hour Fun then there are of McDonalds...or Ole McDonalds as brother calls it.

I just walked in the den to find both boys asleep on the same sofa. There are about 8 blankets..on the FLOOR. One child has a gameboy under his hip, and the other has the remote. Ahhhhhhhh, summer..............

I haven't ordered a pizza over the phone in three years.

Wait, that's a lie. Roma isn't online yet.

oh my gosh, I could have written that post, all except the Papa John's thing, that is.
Which is when being self employed comes in handy...the 2 oldest kids are slaving with dad these days. Making them way too tired to plan covert ops after I'm in bed.

I'm desperately trying to hang on to some sort of a routine now that school is out, but today will be the first day of summer that we don't have some sort of play date or other social activity. When does school start again?

Hehe, the towels all over the backyard line made me smile. I love that! I love that feeling in the early evening when we've done nothing but play all day. Order pizza, sit on the deck or wherever, while beach towels are hanging to dry over the deck rails, and kids run around barefoot, still in their swimsuits. Seeing those towels in the backyard just makes me feel like .... home. Yeah, I'm goofy.

I dunno, must be regional differences. Around here, nobody orders from Papa John's. (Seriously, we had one open and in six months it was out of business). But that also hold's true for other chains as well (such as Little Ceasar's, but oddly Domino's manages to stay).

We just have too many good pizzarias for chains to make it.

Summer vacation doesn't start here until next week for LatteGirl, which I don't really understand since thus far this week they have apparently done everything BUT schoolwork.

I have yet to be in the pool myself, yet somehow the mountain of towels created by TheWife and LatteGirl is nothing short of amazing.

Sounds a whole lot like my house. So, how was the pizza?

I was just thinking that being the only one in the household not on summer vacation would be kind of hellish but then you get to "escape" to work.

I've basically been laid off for the last six months from my oh-so-part-time job, and things are just now starting to pick up again. At first I thought it was bad timing, but I'm starting to be grateful instead.

I thought you might enjoy this new MICHAEL W. SMITH video. The song is featured on his new album STAND with lyrics written by AMY GRANT. Enjoy and please pass on to any who might be interested. Thank you.

uh oh...does this mean you're going to turn to online grocery shopping too?? oh what will happen next??

I hope you are soon at 100%. Summer vacation when I was little. Mom fed us breakfast and then showed us where the PBJ & Kool-Aid were kept. She was not going to be our slave or make lunch each time one of us came home.

I love papjohns, infact on Fridays if I order by 4:30, my kids have their dinner by 5:30! The timing is perfect, I let the pizza air out for 15 mintes, my kids HATE hot hot food, they would rather eat it cold or lukewarm. I love your blog! Hey everyone hop on over to mine, I have a gazillion diffrent stories too!
