Summer Playground SafetyA word of warning about hot playground equipment in the summer:
Even plastic slides can burn. Laura's little girl, Mallory, received a second degree burn on a plastic slide, when the slide they had been playing on a few minutes earlier got hot very quickly.
Please, please make sure the playground equipment isn't too hot, and, remember many surfaces, not just metal can burn sensitive skin.
Hope you feel better soon, Mallory!

You are so right! I was not thinking when I placed the plastic lid on the garbage can Saturday afternoon. I do not rember what degree burn it is which result in blisters but I have them on my left hand now. It did not occur to me the plastic would burn my hand. Maybe I should tie an oven mit to the trash can. OUCH!
I am one of those super weirdo moms who make hers girls wear pants or capris to the park. It promotes modesty AND helps prevent burns!
Thank you for spreading the word! :-D
Groovyoldlady, we were in the backyard when it happened - I wouldn't have had her in a swimsuit at the park. Teehee! I think that's a good idea to follow in the future, though. No sliding without your protective firefighter suit on!
Wow - thanks for letting us know!! They usually make the slides from light colors, so you wouldn't think they'd heat up that fast!
