Ten minutes to Wapner

We went to visit Busy Girl at camp today, she's doing well.

Her strep throat is better, and, well, there may or may not be other kids with strep.

I'm not telling.

I figured out today, that she's in the same cabin I was exactly 30 years ago at her same age. We even found my name on the wall in there.

30 years. Wow.

Busy Boy is at a friend's house.

Thank goodness.

I love that child more than life itself, but, holy honkers, can that kid talk!

When do we get to the sullen pre-teen thing? I swear, I'd buy about 2 hours of it today to get him to shut up.

I thought I'd get a reprieve at Mass this morning, but, well, no.

You see, when he get something in his head, he is THE MOST single minded human ever to roam the planet.

He's like the damn Rain Man.

This obsessive episode, he wants a bass guitar, and, through Mass, he's all, "I wonder if I should get the $99 one it's black the other one is red I don't want a beginner one what about an amp I want a big amp but I saw a little one on the Internet that's supposed to give a strong sound..."

He's not really begging, I don't even think he knows he's doing it, but, once he gets something in his head everyone suffers.

Even the Not Yet Kindergartener Formerly Known as the Preschooler Formerly Known as Busy Baby said, "Can we just talk about something else?"

I'm tellin' ya, if he ever got started on a beach front condominium, I guarantee you'd buy it for him within the hour just to make it stop.

OMG. I thought my obsessive-Rain Man child was the only one that did that at Mass. Too funny. Relentless driving mind will be good when they grow up but it's hard to parent sometimes.

My 5 year old is already an ORM - oh boy - long road ahead!

Dude...I BOUGHT TQ the damned Webkinz today and she STILL won't stop going on about it. I had to tell her at dinner that I was all Webkinzed out and that I didn't want to discuss it anymore UNTIL she passed her swim test tomorrow. And she's quiet about it for about 13 seconds before it starts up again. Rain Man, indeed!

Have you met my two Rainmen? Both of my kids are just like this, especially the boy. "Forget it" is the term I used most often in this house. I'd go insane if I had a third one. It's horrible.

You know what they say. The child that gets on your nerves the most is the one most like you. I'm just saying....

"I love that child more than life itself, but, holy honkers, can that kid talk!"

WAIT! were you talking about New Orleans Boy? you MUST have been talking about him because he talks the same as Busy Boy! sheesh! and tonight was certainly no exception! I already feel badly for their counselor at camp! hahahaha!

*GRINS*

Yeah, I know, my time is coming...both of mine are already like this and I have a loooooong road ahead.

Glad BG is better!

Brother is the EXACT SAME WAY! and he is only (turning six) five. But, his will last for days! Weeks even! It is like his brain cannot process it (whatever it is) and he has to keep saying it so he won't forget. BTW, He also wants a bass guitar and that is what he is getting for his birthday....Where is this $99 lovely that you speak of???? A Beginner One.....we have not found?

OMG, there are a lot of you saying "I've got one (or more) of those!"

I was going to suggest we all get together, but I'm not sure the fabric of space and time could handle all our kids getting together.

I was always the quiet one when I was a kid. Or, that's what I'm telling everyone. (looks innocent)

Princess can be that way too.

I'm feeling your pain today. Normally I can deal with chatty and social, but today was an I'd like to compose prose on the computer so leave me alone in my own little world sort of day. Did they leave me alone? No. Silly-Head had to show me how mice can live in both sides of my measuring cup. Girly-Girl asked about this and that and the other thing and yesterday and next week.

The EVOD (Evil Voice of Doom) kept hounding me about laundry and dishes and shopping and cleaning the stupid oven and the bathrooms and...

This would have been a LOVELY day for Grammy to stop in unexpectedly and want to take them to Micky D's for sour hours. Then I could have drowned out the EVOD with some groovin' tunes and relaxed.

hahahahaha. my four year old son is like rainman by the way he memorizes songs and movies THE FIRST TIME HE HEARS OR SEES THEM. good to know I am not alone. not good to see it lasts a long time. :)

My busy boy, who is close in age to your's I think, also wants a guitar and my word.... if I hear that word one more time........................

He will hound you until your ears bleed and you lie on the floor weeping and throwing your wallet at him.

I'm sure you'll look back on these days with fondness when he's a typical teenager who never wants to talk to his parents!!

Hey, when did Tony become your son?! I thought my son was the most implusive talker on the planet!

One time I told him to PUL-EEESE be quiet for a couple minutes. His reply, "Mom, I like to talk - when I get to be a cowboy I want to ride a....."
