Busy Mom Playlist Monday

I've been into making playlists for my iPod lately.

Yes, I'm probably woefully behind the times, but, hey, it's fun.

Sometimes I get overwhelmed with the song possibilities, or, I forget all about some song I love, and, need prompting, so I need your help.

When I'm done, I'll have playlist for every occasion, and, the cool kids will let me in their group for sure.

Today, you're going to help me make a playlist for a back yard barbecue.

What's some cool music that says "Cookout With Friends"?

Ready? Go.

To me, bar-b-que season is time for The Boss, so almost anything Springsteen (i.e. Born To Run, Born in the USA, Glory Days), Billy Joel (Tell her about it, Scenes from an Italian Restaurant) and Huey Lewis (Power of Love).

Of course, I am old, so it could just be me remembering what I used to like to listen in the summer "all those years ago"

To "freshen" my playlist these days (and to keep the little one from rebelling), my "Bar-b-que" list now also contains Corbin Bleu (Push It to the Limit, Deal With It), Hannah Montana (Who Said, Pumpin' up the Party) and Aly & AJ (Into the Rush, Do you believe in Magic).

Sad... isn't it?

Have you heard the new CD "It Won't Be Soon Before Long" by Maroon 5? I bought it on a whim three weeks ago and have barely listened to anything else since - what a surprise! I'm 49 years old, BTW. An even bigger surprise is that my 50-year-old husband had me copy it for him. Our daughter likes it, too. I can't tell you how surprised she was that I gotten my own copy of that CD. :)

I don't know but that just screams 2 Buffett songs for me:

Cheeseburger in Paradise

Of course, the second one says a little something about my BBQ style. ;-)

family tradition--Hank Williams Jr.

well you are a step ahead of me, I dont have an ipod!

Well, it goes without saying that Busymom would include Buffet. There's at least one buffet song for every occassion.

Redneck woman - just because it's fun to see peoples' reactions when it says: Let me get a big "Hell Yeah" from the redneck girls like me ..

Brown Eyed Girl, & probably anything Alan Jackson

Ya gotta have:
Summertime by Fresh Prince
Jack and Diane by John Meloncamp
Boys of Summer by Don Henley

Happy Hour Again, by the Housemartins.

But you knew that, I'm sure.

The latest album by BNL is good - weird but wonderful! The "Songs about Jane" album by Maroon 5 is good. Add some Michael
Buble and Robin Thicke.

There's gonna be some Jimmy Buffett in there, right? Please say yes! Nothing screams "relax and think of nothing productive for a while" than Buffett - LOVE HIM!

How about Summertime by Kenny Chesney?

Or perhaps a little of the Dead if you like...

Another one could be Bob Marley... mmm I'm thinkin about putting a little of that on right now....

Summer time equals fried chicken!

A. Good to the bone (ok)
B. Moan inducing (hmmmmm)
C. Really kickin' (I hope not in the literal sense)
D. Finger Lickin' (of course)
E. Worth pickin'

Here's the song:

*Saturday in the Park
*Uncle John's Band (Dead)
*American Pie

I am playlist obsessed too!! I have a "clean the house mix" and a "drinking wine after the kids are in bed mix" and a bunch of others.

I know it's cliche and shows my age, but you can't go wrong with some good old retro 80s stuff. I don't know why, but it always feels like it's summer when I hear Duran Duran, so I always include them in the playlist when we have a cookout!

For me it's gotta be Dave Matthews, Bruce Springsteen, Eric Clapton (in any incarnation), CCR, Paul Simon, Marvin Gaye, and the Allman Brothers Baby!!! Oh, and don't forget Stevie Ray Vaughan.

Jack Johnson is wonderful for that laid back Hawaii vibe.

Josh Kelly is good as well as Nikka Costa.
