As long as we're doing lists of things I never get to do, how about doing a Dinner Party Playlist this time?
All suggestions for a Dinner Party Playlist, feedback or additions to this Dance Playlist, and, suggestions for other playlists welcomed.
Other playlists:
Back Yard Barbecue Playlist
Road Trip Playlist
« I'm done now!
House of Pain!! Totally.
And what's wrong with Fergie? ;)
Ok, Dinner Party Playlist...hmmm... Oh! I know - check out the Buddha Bar albums. (http://www.amazon.com/Buddha-Bar-Claude-Challe/dp/B00003ZL0D) It's cool, european loungey-type music that'll make your friends think you're super cool. Which of course, you are.
Dancing Queen is the best dancefloor-filler I know. I'm a big ABBA fan, but it always amazed me to see people pouring onto disco dancefloors whenever Dancing Queen started.
for a dinner party, I would play 'happy' classical very low. Opera evokes feelings in it's listeners without them ever knowing. But you gotta play it low because there are way too many heathens who dislike operaretic music.
You sure on a variety swing today! But I don't see Puff the Magic Dragon on there yet! :-)
Frank Sinatra, or any of the Rat Pack are good for dinner parties. Also, Diana Krall, Susan Tedeschi, or Josh Groban would be good.
Insert any song by MC Hammer.
For your dance list - "I Don't Feel Like Dancin'" by Scissor Sisters and for the dinner party - "Moondance" by Van Morrison.
For a dinner party, Miles Davis. Or Sufjan Stevens, if you're entertaining a hip crowd.
Wow, you still remember Wilson Pickett? I am impressed outa-my-mind!
I've just bought the Ronettes for my daughter [I wonder if you can dance in the car?]
Cheers
Love Shack? Seriously?
Since our tastes obviously, um, differ, I'm not sure you'll like my pick of Harry Connick, Jr. for your dinner music. Pretty much anything by him, but if it's a romantic diner a deux with hubby, then I just put on his "Only You" CD. Do NOT listen to that CD while driving, however, or you may fall asleep at the wheel.
How 'bout Mony Mony.....,but if you did the college version, well....you'd have to bleep some of it! Not sure if that's dance music sober or otherwise!
excellent dance list! I love playlists, and now , thanks to you, I have some more to add to mine.. here are a few additions that are on my dance playlist -flashlight by parlaiment, everything she wants by wham, addicted to love by robert palmer, hollywood swinging by kool and the gang, dance the night away by d. morgan, I like the way you move by outcast, If you want me to stay by sly and the family stone, tell me bout it by joss stone, strokin' by clarence carter and crazy in love by Jay-Z and Beyonce. enjoy!
me again. if there's one thing I love, it's sharing music! here are a few I have on my dinner music playlist - babylon and sail away by david gray, white flag by dido, don't panic by coldplay, my guitar gently weeps by the beatles, can't take my eyes off of you by frankie valli, fly me to the moon by frank sinatra, captain of her heart by double, crush by dave matthews band, you don't know me by diana krall and ray charles, the lady wants to know by michael franks (anything by michael franks). ok, I'll stop now :-)
Wow, I must be really old. I don't recognize many of the songs you listed! Eeek! :-) Wait and wasn't "I'm a Believer" a Monkey's tune????
Dance party..."Two Tickets to paradise"..Eddie Money...Then there is "Fins" by Jimmy Buffet or even "Cheeseburger in Paradise" which could double with the dinner music. However, for the dinner party, I like the Miles Davis idea and would spice it with some easy John Coltrane...
Tag!
Dancing on the Ceiling!!!!
That should definitely be on there. Um dinner party music? Well depends what kind of food are we serving? I got tons of suggestions for ya :) -
That is a mighty fine dance list- how I love the Gab Band! Also, any dance song worth it's sweat is going to have either a dog barking, a air-raid siren, or lots of cowbell.
I like Dirty Pop. Is that weird?
