My mom told me about that. Works on me, and I've tried it on at least one of the kids. So far so good.

I'm trying it on myself tonight. I'd do it right now, but I don't keep vicks or mentholatum in the office. I wish I did.

I am definitely trying this if I am ever hit with the cough from evil again myself. (It's been a few years and I'm knocking on wood... I think it really helped to have my own child graduate out of the public school system and get out of my house!)

My mom told me about that too. Didn't work the one time I tried it on my son but then regular cough syrup didn't even work that time. I will have to try it again next time.

Fact and reason make us want to too readily discard some of the old methods. And then we find out that there was method to the madness. Scientists now confirm that Chicken Soup really does relieve cold symtoms. And here's proof that the salve and sock method works too.

But, on the other hand, if goose grease on the chest and a mustard plaster and a garlic medallion around the neck still work, please don't even mention it.

What Beth said! Why the feet? Honestly I don't care, as long as it works I will give it a try, because my little one screams to the high heavens if I dare put that "stinky stuff" on her chest.

Vicks was one of my Nana's staples. According to her it cured everything! As for me, I'll try anything but wearing undershirts... those were the worst! I had to wear one from November to May until we finally moved to Florida! Oh, and Fletcher's Castoria... that stuff tasted like funk, under rocks, for ten years. Man, now I've got to go to therapy again, too many bad childhood memories just came rushing back! Thanks!

I used the humidifier alot earlier this year than last! Thats a great suggestion about the vicks/mentholatum on the feet. Will definately use it.......however I'm still laughing about throwing him out the window. I've thought the SAME THING!!! Luv the little guy but they are like a rock concert at 3am.

I tried this on my son last night. No coughing from 8pm-5am... Thank. The. Lord!

Wow - I HAVE to try this. Never heard of it (and I thought my nana had all the tricks under the sun up her sleeves) but I so need this. BOTH of my kids have been coughing nonstop - at night, of course, during the day they're fine - and I've been basically feeling like a lady of the night - I just go from one bed to the other, all night long, rubbing backs, consoling miserable children, and forgoing all sleep myself. I will try this tonight WITHOUT FAIL.

what? are you freaking kidding me? that's awesome! we've been rubbing vvr on my kid's chest every night for the snots and she loves it and her cold hasn't progressed beyond that. but if it does, i'm slathering the feet next.
