Your Sista tagged me for a Christmas meme, and, since I am trying to stop being She Who Sucks at Doing Memes, I'll play along in a timely manner:
1. Wrapping or gift bags? I love the idea of gift wrap, but, since I am notorious for marathon wrapping sessions on Christmas Eve, despite my best intentions, I'll go with gift bags.
2. Real or artificial tree? Either is OK. I grew up with an artificial tree mostly due to my mother's fear of spontaneous combustion (the tree, not her), so, I always had a real tree when I was on my own.
However, I'm pretty sure the kids are allergic to the real tree, but, we get one anyway.
3. When do you put up the tree? I hate doing it too early, but, usually around the second week of December, or, whenever Busy Girl gets around to decorating it.
4. When do you take the tree down? Bwahahahaha....I admit we've had a St. Patrick's Day tree before.
But, please know the tree is in the not-oft-used living room, and, that was the year my dad had a heart attack on January 2nd.
If the tree was a self-undecorating one, I'd just as soon be rid of it the evening of Dec. 25th.
5. Do you like eggnog? I love Snog (still having trouble getting it, (it flies off the shelves), but, not so much real eggnog because I hate nutmeg.
Would much rather have boiled custard, or, is that just a Southern thing?
6. Favorite gift received as a child? All of them.
7. Do you have a nativity scene? Four, I think.
We have mine from when I was a child, and, each kid has a Fontanini creche ("Jesus Playset" when older kids were younger).
8. Worst Christmas gift you ever received? Unsolicited egg poacher.
9. Mail or email Christmas cards? Mail, but, looking like neither, this year.
10. Favorite Christmas Movie? Charlie Brown Christmas.
11. When do you start shopping for Christmas? When I get panicked.
12. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? Take the kids to look at the Christmas lights on the house down the street. A sight to behold, and, Santa is there, sometimes.
13. Clear lights or colored on the tree? Prefer clear, but, usually whatever's in the box goes on the tree.
14. Favorite Christmas song? "Angels We Have Heard on High"
15. Travel at Christmas or stay home? Depends, but, since my mother died last year, I try to get in-laws to come here so I don't have to leave my dad alone.
16. Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer.Yes.
Oh, I actually have to do it? OK: Dasher, Dance, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner and Blitzen. Rudolph, too.
17. Angel on the tree top or a star? Both.
18. Open the presents Christmas Eve or Christmas Morning? Christmas morning, but, kids have been lobbying to open one gift on Christmas Eve.
19. Most annoying thing about this time of year? Traffic.
20. Do you decorate your tree in any specific theme or color? While part of me would love to have a Better Homes and Gardens styled tree, I love whatever the kids do for decorating it, more.
21. What do you leave for Santa? As a kid, I left him a beer, but, my kids leave the more standard cookies and milk.
22. Least favorite holiday song? Not a big fan of "Jingle Bell Rock"
23. Favorite ornament? A wooden Snoopy ornament I got at a Christmas eve party when I was a kid.
I remember the party because it was cool we actually got to go somewhere with a bunch of people.
I'm an only child from a small family, and, we didn't usually get to do a lot on holidays.
No tags, that's your Christmas present, but, I'd love to read if you want to do it, anyway!
UPDATED: OK, y'all are hilarious re: #12.
I sure read that as your favorite thing to "do" at Christmas.
Shut up, I do not need bifocals. Much.
As for "eat", I dunno, anything that someone else cooks is good by me.

I found this Meme over at BusyMom’s place, and while she didn’t actually tag me, since I am currently recovering from oral surgery (yes again) and not in much of a mood for original thought, I figured this was just what the doctor (or denti... [Read More]

You still got that egg poacher? I make a mean Hollandaise, but my eggs benedict are sometimes weak because my eggs are inconsistent.
Merry Christmas!
I'm guessing you did this in a hurry, because I can't for the life of me figure out what the answer to #12 has to do with your favorite thing to eat! Still, I enjoyed reading it, and think I may follow suit.
Here's a linky to mine: http://txpoppet.blogspot.com/2007/12/another-christmas-list.html
I love this meme. It's like peeping into everyone's windows on Christmas Eve.
#12 stumped me too. Your answer is a prime indicator that you are suffering from holiday STRESS.
I did a similar meme last wek, here: http://groovybell.blogspot.com/2007/12/im-jumping-off-cliff-because-all-my.html
So do you eat the lights?
I agree with your dates for decorating and undecorating. However, I do need that self-undecorating one of which you write. I hate eggnog too, mainly because of the nutmeg. I had never even heard of Snog!
I giggled at number 12 too. I sat here going she eats santa?
Is santa a hollow chocolate santa?
I might steal this meme. Since its' almost midnight and I'm bogged down with work that's due tomorrow. So what better thing to do than a meme :)
I just have to ask. So few eat it and so few serve it anymore?
Will there be fruitcake -- you know with nuts and cherries and currents and almond paste icing?
