Busy D. (age 5) had basketball practice tonight.
We left the house around 5pm, and, I apparently wasn't going fast enough to suit him as he loves him some basketball practice.
He asked me to hurry and I said I was going as fast as I could, but, people were coming home from work, and, there was traffic.
His very serious reply?
"You really should have taken the Interstate, then".
Speaking of his basketball team, this oughta be interesting.
His coaches are saints, and, practices have been, um, challenging.
It's not often I can say Busy D. (whom Busy Girl has taken to calling "Stitch") is the best behaved kid in the group, but, we'll take it.
After practice, the coach asked me what I thought he needed to do (I have no idea why, I think it's either because he's mistaken me for someone who knows basketball since I was shooting some before practice, or, I'm the only one who'll correct my kid), and, I replied, "The only thing you can do, go get a beer."

I lived through Busy Girl's entire basketball team spending the night last week.
I have no idea how they did this, but, they went to school, played a basketball game that evening, went ice skating, watched two movies, and, were still up at 3:30 am running circles around our house.
Well, except for the two sleeping kids they were stepping over.
Heh, I realized poor Busy Boy (age 11) is about 18 months away from slapping his head and saying, "The entire girls basketball team spent the night at my house, and, all I did was watch movies in my room!?"

Christmas was nice, rather low-key though.
Actually, I've heard several people say that as well.
No particular reason, but, we just put up a few decorations, didn't even send cards (despite my all being worked up about it), and, the gift count was lower than usual even though it felt like I had to wrap 3,775 presents.
MIL didn't end up bringing any BILs with her, which was OK since one was bringing a dog with him, and, we are already dog and lizard sitting for other people, and, there was already a BIL here.
Yeah, thought the lizard was dead last night, but, he was deep asleep, and, was rather miffed at being awakened.
Sir Spills-a-Lot (sometime reader and NO time commenter) and family came over on Christmas Eve, and, we visited and read "The Night Before Christmas" to the kids.
There's pictures somewhere, but, I'm lazy.
Just imagine us sitting on the couch with our respective copies of the book marveling at how we could have different editions of the traditional poem as we read to squirming kids.
We got up for 9am Mass on Christmas because the older kids were serving.
If you can keep a secret, that's how I keep from having to travel on Christmas, I sign them up to serve, and, say, "Whoops, we can't come there, they gotta altar serve at Mass on Christmas."
Kidding. Kinda sorta.
Presents were opened and meal was cooked, and, much was eaten.
Best part was that I didn't screw up the beef tenderloin. It was even good!
I have no business being allowed to cook something that costs that much.
Shut up, Miss Ann.
Fourladsnme (sometime reader and occasional commenter) and family escaped the Big Lad's family came over for a nice visit in the afternoon, but, much to everyone's dismay they were located they had to go back under the spell of the in-law overlords.
So, Christmas was nice.
I worked yesterday, but, got talked out of it today since a good friend, whom I haven't seen in 10-12 years, was in town, and, we went to visit, instead.
Now, I'm just sitting here wondering just how much food a human body can hold before exploding all over one's computer.
Must. Stop. Eating.

Please tell me you did NOT crockpot a tenderloin.
Pffft. I know you have a few tricks up your sleeve besides the crockpot. You make good coffee, right?
Glad to see you survived your holiday. I did to, but with a lot of help from St. Brendan (think Baileys, only with a cross on the bottle). I only managed to tick off one in-law, and she's the recently acquired step-MIL, and my husband hates her so she doesn't count. She's mad cuz I have family too. We kept it low key at our house, and at my family's place, but there is no accounting for the in laws place. Whatever, I'm sure she'll find time to speak to me since DS first birthday is in 1 week. OMG, it's in 1 week!!! I need to get planning!
We too had a low key holiday-just don't read my posts leading up to it-you'd think the Queen was coming! It's even more low key now...the food had led to much sleeping!
an entired basketball team??? Wow you are a brave woman.
I do remember being that age and having TONS of energy. I still have some, but I envy young children's energy.
High marks on your Christmas survival skills (although I am a little puzzled at the spelling in the title of your post). I reserve the right to question the sanity of an overnighter with an entire basketball team...you are much braver than I.
Hey girl! Glad to see you had a low key Christmas, we did as well! :) Happy New Year!
If you run out of food, you can always go back to the beach where singing out loud beneath headphones is a popular choice.
Just put on jeans...belt is on the last notch! Weight Watchers - 10 am Friday...and so it begins...
Sports Mum has a valid point. So it begins, but where do New Year's resolutions end?
Probably around January 2nd.
My family loves the holidays, beginning with Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years and Mardi Gras so we always have lots of parties. This year I decided to find real unique holiday cards that I could write my own holiday party invitation wordings. I found three great sites, http://www.cardsshoppe.com/Holiday_Invitations_Announcements/Holiday_Invitations_Announcements-7.htm http://www.holiday-invitations.com/Christmas-Invitations-Cards/browse-21.htm and http://www.invitations-shoppe.com/Invitations_Cards/Christmas_Invitations_Cards-9-1.htm. I added all three sites to my favorites and ordered from http://www.holiday-invitations.com and was very pleased. I got lots of compliments, and was so happy. It made the holidays extra special!
