Did you feel it this morning?
That was the earth shifting on axis a little.
Busy D.'s basketball team won their game this morning. He had 12 points.
Yes, they are in kindergarten, but, well, on the kindergarten basketball scale, they aren't very good, so, this was a bit unexpected.
No, I'm not mean, and, I'm not "one of those" parents. Really. They really aren't very good.
Alright, alright. I may be one "one of those parents" on occasion when I've had more than one cup of coffee, and, I involuntarily emit the words, "The BASKET! (For the love of all things good and holy) GO. TO. THE. BASKET!"
Then I "come to", realize the entire gym is looking at me, and, I try to recover with, "Um, yay red! Go team!"
Seriously, though, it's OK. Maddening sometimes, but, not the end of the world, they're kids.
A lot of the problem is that some of the players are very ill-behaved, and, their parents do nothing about it.
The coaches are hesitant to correct them in front of the parents at practice or on the bench, and, the parents just sit there when junior is under the chairs, screaming (really, there are screamers), hitting someone, or, rolling around on the floor.
Everyone on the team goes to the same school except Busy D. so, we really don't know them, but, trust me, when Busy D. thinks you're acting up?
Then you have a real problem.

Darn, I thought those reverberations were from my new IPOD.
Oh yes, a Mac geek, sucked in.
Aah the joys of pee wee basketball. My parents used to come for the pure comedy of it all!
Sounds like Busy D might be a natural. My daughter plays in the 6th grade now. She's pretty good but I make sure she's having fun more than anything.
When I find myself being one of "those parents" on the soccer field, I put a Blow Pop in my mouth. In fact, last year one of the parents just brought a bag to every game and handed them out when the girls started playing. It cut down on a lot of yelling.
We deal with the ill-mannered children all the time. At Beavers, at karate (sensei doesn't allow a whole lot but there only so much she can do) and in school. When my child acts up, I'm not above pulling him aside and dealing with it immediately. I've even stepped in a few times to correct other people's kids. I just don't get that 'let them be brats' mentality.
Yeah I don't get that about certain parents. I was about to post something on my blog about that about something that happened yesterday.
People!
You aren't yelling when kids from the other team are on the free throw line yet, are you? I saw that recently... it was charming.
Unless there is a rule about parents not interfering during the game, I would certainly have a few things to say and do. In gymnastics parents do not walk onto the floor; it is VERY taboo. So, when littler gymnasts create drama, it's up to the coaches to handle it. It's very funny sometimes.
