Busy D. is in da' house

Longtime readers will note that my youngest child, Busy D. (age 5, kindergarten) is a bit of a character.

I know you think I make some of this up, but, I really don't, and, here's outside corroboration of that fact.

Last night, I was paying to get into the basketball tournament that never ends (we won, going to finals) and the kid taking money at the door was a 3rd grader, about 9 years old, and, he had a buddy with him.

He asked me if I was paying the "family" rate, and, I told him that I was, but, that the rest of my family would arrive in a few minutes.

In order to find out if he would recognize them, I asked if he knew who Busy Boy (age 11, 6th grade) was, figuring that the young kids would surely be able to recognize one of the bigger "cooler" kids.

He gave me a blank look, and, said, "Nope, never heard of him."

The other kid said, "Yeah, yeah, you know who he is...."

First kid: "No, I really don't."

Second kid: "Fergoshsakes, that is Busy D.'s brother, man!"

First kid: "Really?! Busy D.'s coming? Are you serious?"

I paid, and, as I walked away I heard the first one say, "Man, I love that kid, I can't wait until he gets here!"

That is soooo funny!! That kid must be super cool!

That is soooo funny!! That kid must be super cool!

Aww! How cool is that?! Bet you felt great! :-)

hahaha, he must be quite a character!

Oh my! I have a feeling that that is what HB2 is going to be like. He told us in the fall at dinner one night that he was going to drink beer when he was a teenager. Shall I start MY medication now?

Wonder if that makes Busy D "famous" or "infamous"?

And you thought things were interesting with the older 2? I think you ain't seen nothin' yet!

Famous.

In kindergarten.

Wow!

That's not only first-hand. That is such a fine compliment I got a something stuck in my throat. You da Mom, no doubt about it.

Too bad you couldn't be a fly on the wall to see what it is that makes Busy D so popular.

His reputation precedes him - is this a good thing or no? :-)

(Wondering if this is a good time to ask if Busy D will be updating his blog any time soon ...)

It's always the little ones who are the characters! My oldest is the quiet thinker, and my youngest is the public comedian.

Makes life interesting, doesn't it?

I wonder if its a youngest kid thing? My youngest was the same way. By the time she was six my husband and I would sit back and watch her work a room of adults and kids like a professional politician. It was amazing.

Wowsers! A five year old with a fan club. The kid's definitely got a future ahead of him.

I totally get it. I have been a fan of Busy D's since he was Busy Baby with a blog.

Oh dear. Busy D sounds like my younger brother when he was that age.

Oh, to be cool enough that the neighborhood kids know your name! I'm impressed. Really.

Preved dyatlam!

LOL - the youngest ones always get the fame!
