The brink of summer

Busy Girl is 8th grade banqueted and graduated, and I contained myself at all events.

Though I do admit to having to listen to that damn (has sound, it's a song, and well, songs have sound...) Graduation (Friends Forever) song by Vitamin C a few times before both events to desensitize myself to it.

Anyway, both events were very nice, and all the kids looked so grown up.

Her diploma was misspelled (wouldn't that be funny if I misspelled "misspell"?), though. Oddly enough, it wasn't even our last name that was the problem.

I'm assuming the diploma was good and she didn't botch her exams, but we're getting a new one, anyway.

The girls had a gathering graduation night, and the whole class had a party last night where you may have been able to hear the sound of new relationships being formed all the way from your house.

The litany of "who's going out" increased forty-fold or something during those 3 hours.

Now, it's just weird that she doesn't have to go to school.

I keep trying to tell her to do her homework, and she keeps walking around like she's forgotten to do something.

Actually, she had to get up today and will have to get up tomorrow to do service hours for her Girl Scout Silver Award, so she's not really gotten to lounge around.

Oh, there's also basketball practice tomorrow night and a tournament this weekend, so that will keep her busy, which is fine by me since we (and by "we", I mean "she") took a brief detour from proper behavior which has since been resolved.

I was picking her and her friend up from the party last night, and I said, "Oh, weren't those some people you went to grade school with?"

Busy Girl: "Yeah, it seems like yesterday."

She got an iPod Touch for graduation and loves it.

I'm torn between, "Hey, cool, now I want one", and "Whoa, unsupervised Internet, how do I monitor that?"

It is quite nifty, though.

Hey, any of you that have one, what's the deal with the movies and some songs skipping?

I think it may be a Vista problem.

Any advice?

Reloading stuff doesn't make a difference, haven't tried synching with XP yet.

Anyway...

Busy D. had a soccer tournament during all the graduation hoopla, and they came in 3rd.

Meh.

Another team's coach cheated.

Oh, yes he did. SIX YEAR OLD soccer.

And? If you're reading and you know who I am, and you know who he is, you can tell him I said he's a redneck ass.

They had to stop the game one time because of his behavior. I called the league today to complain, but I suspect I'll have to get in line.

Oh, Busy D. lost his first tooth today! The Tooth Fairy had better remember to stop by here tonight.

Poor Busy Boy.

He's the only one left in the house with actual school.

Actually, I'm having a hard time remembering the boys are still in school, it'd be bad if I forgot to take them or something this week.

Busy Girl's out, kindergarten is still in, but they aren't doing much of anything and Busy Boy is in the middle of exams.

OK, I'm in the middle of exams as I chase him around the house to try to impart some knowledge on him.

Is a blessed wonder that that child's teachers don't drink heavily or haven't jumped out a window.

Just when things were settling down on the home front, I found out today I'll be working by myself since Busy Chatty Employee turned in her 2 week notice.

The timing? She is not so good.

I had eleventy million other things to tell you, but they just vaporized.

One was something about Sonic asking me if I wanted tomato on my BLT.

Woot! I like it when the kids have fun. You do good at that!

I once ordered a CHEESEBURGER at McDonalds "with nothing on it" and they didn't put cheese on it either.

Just volunteering in the K class makes me want to drink.

Heavily.

Wanna share a drink at BlogHer? Or I could just get you your own. They will be free, you know.

I'm a teacher and if I *did* drink I would be drinking heavily. I have two more weeks to go and it can't finish soon enough.

Such milestones! I always have to remind myself in the midst of the maelstrom, "remember this, remember this". Hope you're better at it than I am! =)

Oh that is not good on Busy Chatty Employee. At least it will be quiet at the office?

I am clueless on Vista. Clueless. I don't even have it on my laptop.

Heck, Busy Girl's got a diploma. Can't she fill in for Busy Chatty Employee?

The very thought of VIsta gives me the shivers. You're talking to a woman who stuck with DOS till WIndows Millenium edition came out.

I just got a new ipod, but alas, not the touch. So I can't help.

D lost a tooth?? My Shark hasn't yet and I dread it. It is somehow that last babyish thing falling away and they really start to look like older kids.

OMG - High school!! I want a drink just thinking about that. (Good thing I have you to warn me about what's ahead...)

Congratulations!

Subway does the same thing to me. It drives me crazy! BLT stands for Bacon, Lettuce and TOMATO!

Sonic asked if you want the tomato because I order my BLT without the lettuce, and my vegetarian sister orders hers without the bacon.

Mem--ries

Light The Corners of my Mind

Misty Water colored mem-or-ies

Of The Way We Were.

waaaaaaaaah!!!

Congrats to all --- oh and sorry about the bad timing of Chatty Employee.

I just love your stories!!! By the way, I also ordered a cheeseburger plain from McD's and they left off the cheese.

Also, do you want flies with that?

Golly, how time flies. I feel like I am growing up with you.

Lots 'o changes in your family. I know what you mean about cheating coaches in kids' sports. I just witnessed it last week at my six year old son's mini-mite hockey game. Unbelievable.

Phew, glad that's over with...WAIT A MINUTE...we're doing all the same junk in another 3 weeks?

Hey, I got an idea.

Why don't you stop by my place - in 3 weeks - and it's, like, you can do it ALL OVER AGAIN ;o)

Congratulations!

Sounds way busy, yes. I love 'eleventy million'. I'm going to have to fit that phrase into my daily life somehow.

Congratulations on the 8th grade grad. I remember my 8th grade grad very well. And the "going out" stuff that happened at the party too. Funny how times seem to not change.

I have an iPod Touch (though I didn't get it for 8th grade grad) and we don't really have a problem with skipping movies and songs. We even bought the AV cord to plug into the TV or portable DVD player screen and watch our movies that way.
