In which summer sneaks up on meNote to self: you're going to BlogHer next month.
As in, in just a few weeks.
It seems you've forgotten to either lose 100 lbs. or grow 2 feet taller.
It wouldn't kill you to get a pedicure and do something about your hair, either.
We won't even discuss the flip flops, but it'd be OK if you got some real summer shoes.
And, by the way...about that money that you so blithely said, "Meh, I'll think of something..."

I'm just excited you get to GO - nevermind what you look like!
I can't wait to see you there! Um, I'll be the obese chick with bad hair, behind the curtains hoping nobody notices my flip-flops and my month-old toenail polish. Oh, and I don't have any money to bring, either.
Flipflops ARE summer shoes. Pretty sure I'm going to be way too excited about meeting everyone to notice details like nail polish.

Oh yeah, I just bought a new pair of sandals for the summer, only because the dog chewed up my only pair of summer shoes that I had and have been wearing for the past eight years!
Maybe you and I could have energency lapriscopies two for one.

Just wear something that says "I'm a woman, not just a mom" and forget about nails. Did you read the recent NY Times article about how flaky nails are IN and mani-pedis are OUT? I'm cool with that!

However, I seem to be having some kind of teenage-narcissistic-insecurity-flashback, 'cos suddenly it's all about what do I wear? What shoes-comfy or cute? Is a BlogHer cocktail party like a real cocktail party? Do I have to have a LBD? What if I don't make the cheerleading squad and the popular girls don't invite me to the sleepover???
Geez.
I am going straight to Green Hills and getting a dang pedicure.
Flipflops are the summer shoe, but if you need something more foofy, go to DSW! (or zappos, they're pretty fine, too)

Have you ever heard of Switchflops? They're sheer brilliance and I think they'll be the talk of Blogher. Well, probably not. But they are soooo cool! They're my new fave shoe!
