Since droning on endlessly about being sick and, ZOMG the steroid crazies, isn't exactly curing me, I suppose I'll stop talking about it.
Or, not.
I really don't know because, see above: steroid. crazy.
The voices are telling me to keep blogging about it, though.
OK, OK, I'm better, but not all there, yet.
Working on it, though. Likely a viral infection I just can't shake.
My own doctor has yet to call me back in nearly 2 weeks.
It's now turned into a bit of an experiment for me.
You see, I'm only 43, left them more than one message (same day appointment requests go to the nurse's voice mail) explaining I've been in the ER twice, urgent care once and I need to be followed up because I might have a blood clot on my lung or I might have congestive heart failure (I don't) and they have YET to call back.
I'm going to see how long it takes, if ever, to get a call.
I did end up seeing a lovely new doctor and he's great and I'm gonna live eventually, so all is well.
It turned out that one of the doctors in the new office was the little brother of my best friend from childhood.
I hadn't seen him in probably 30 years, (he was maybe 8?) and we reconnected, it was hilarious.
Now, it seems the lazy days of summer abruptly ended when the calendar turned August 1st.
We picked Busy Boy up from camp last Saturday and had to take him directly to football practice from there, and he's got practice 4 days a week, now.
Busy Girl starts high school this week.
This. Week.
High. School.
Those of you who've been following me a long time know that this is the culmination of a very hard, years long decision process and now it's here.
We had new parent orientation tonight, and just like that, I find myself part of a tremendous new community and I wasn't quite prepared for the emotional impact.
Oh, hell.
Who am I kidding?
At 60mg of prednisone (my steroid) a day, loading the dishwasher has an emotional impact.
(Reader's Digest version: I went to a small, all girl's school that I love dearly. My dad even teaches there now. My husband teaches at a history-filled, rival school.
Busy Girl is my only daughter and I have never been able to imagine her not going to my alma mater, but the time is here, and she's going to Busy Dad's school.
The whole thing is new for me.)
So many things to notice, but one of the first things that amuses me is that some of the kids she's faced (and tangled with) for years and years on the athletic fields are (I warned her early on) now her classmates and friends.
Hey, that reminds me, I forgot to tell you she made the volleyball team!!
She's on the freshman team, but I think the school's program is nationally ranked, so this is kind of a big deal.
Oh, and they practice 5 days a week.
Hey, remember the 4 day a week football practices above?
Yeah,
Guess what? That doesn't even count Busy D.'s soccer practices.
Summer's here. Summer's gone.
Kitchen still half-painted.
Still much to do here (hey new P&G friends, I really am going to write about my nice time), I just can't get things together quite yet, what with this breathing I have to keep doing.
I think they oughta find some way to automate that because the whole effort's starting to interfere with the ambient song lyrics running around my head.

Glad to hear about the new doctor. What a poor job the old office has done for you.
As for the "new" school, I too went to a private school where my parent's taught. We don't live in the same city/state anymore, but if we did it would be very difficult for my daughter not to go there.
And volleyball more than football, wow that's really something. In TX, football was an all day/every day affair. Field Hockey was 5 days a week, twice a day, and boy was it painful!
I cannot BELIEVE your old doctor hasn't called you! Not even a nurse? That is unacceptable!
I'm so so sorry you are still sick. That sucks, to put it mildly. But how great is it that you got to catch up with your friend's little brother.
And yea for Busy Girl making the HS volleyball team, although it sounds like you are going to be one super charged Busy Mom. Whew.
It could be that your viral steroid needing affliction is actually caused by the stress of Busy Girl starting High School. Gameboy will be a Jr. this year & I'm starting to freak out about next year....when he will be a Sr. and I will have to plan (I hope) *gulp* a Graduation Party.
Way to go Busy Girl.
Given this schedule, I assume you've discovered a van capable of driving in two directions at once? Send make and model info immediately.
Also: keep breathing, and fire doctor #1.
I am pretty sure that prednisone is a product of the devil himself. It makes me crazy and crabby and makes my family either want to move out or sell me.
and congrats to busy girl, that is pretty cool. I always wanted to be a volleyball player but requires some sort of eye hand co-ordination that I lack.
Hope you are on the mend soon!
I know what you mean!
While we definitely had a busy summer, it seems that once August reared it's ugly head, the calendar immediately became jam-packed. Now I'm trying to squeeze in clothes and shoe-shopping for four children between ball practices, football camp, dance class... GAH!
Where did my summer go!
Congrats on the volleyball team!
Yes, high school is terrifying.
Congrats to you V-ball playing daughter! I feel the same way as you about August 1st....even though school doesn't start for 3 weeks, soccer has....4 days a week now, and even the games and a tournament all before school starts....And then school sports tryouts start the week before school...it's over....that relaxing summer that is....oh and it's 105 degrees today...awesome
Congratulations to your daughter for the TEAM! Whoot!
I'm so sorry to hear you are under the weather... lordy, it always happens when we don't have TIME for it! Healthcare btw is horrific - the stories we could share!
Welcome to the high school momma club. I have one graduated last year, a senior and a junior. Watching the Freshman parents and the overwelmed looks on their faces is oh so reminescent of what I went through. Hang in there!
Get better SOON!

Well, sure, but your sidebar says you're 42. (I have to do everything.......)
I'm pissed @ that old doctor.
Good job Busy Girl on the Volleyball team. :)
So Busy Mom, do your weeks have 20 days? It sure seems like you are cramming everything in there! Poor thing, still sick and every kid's activities to do.
At least you are still laughing in between your breathing. :)
I'm glad you found a new doctor. Be ashamed, old doctor!
Seems like my eldest just started high school last year, and in a week we'll be driving her off to her freshman year in college. Buckle your seatbelt--high school flies by!
Now I'm a little worried I've scared you with my flying by talk. With your breathing thing, you might start a downward spiral. Stop! High school won't be that fast. And it will be so fun! I promise!
I have mono. I'll be 40 next month...I have a child starting kindergarten on Friday - girlfriend, sounds like it is time to bow up at your house kind of like we have here...I don't know where summer actually went because it is still 110 degrees around here.
My daughter's going to high school this year, too...the years sure do fly. Congrats to her for making the volleyball team - I'll have two on the team this year and the coach has "optional" practice at 5:45 am every day before school in addition to the after school practices and games. I'm in the calm before the storm!
School is starting ALREADY?
Dang, we haven't even technically finished last year's school work yet! I wasn't thinking of starting this schoolyear until, oh, December or something.
I remember all those sports practices with the older 2. Ugh! However, congrats to the girl on making the Vball team.
I'm NOT on steroids and I can ramble just like you. Must be the STARBUCKS!!
(Feel better!)
Never was a blogger more aptly named than you, BusyMom! I hope you are healthy again soon! Summer truly sucked here--16 year old was badly hurt in a car accident (he was NOT driving) and has a ways to go before he's okay. School starts on the 25th(!!) and I'm worried he won't be up to it. This Mom Thing is the toughest gig ever! Congrats to BusyGirl on volleyball--I have a feeling that girl will love high school!
I was on Prednisone for an unknown facial allergy back in April. I felt psychotic and I couldn't sleep. So I know how you feel.
Anyway you seem extremely busy (you have so much going on) so I won't ramble on with a long comment :)
It stinks being sick! That doctor should be embarrassed.
I hope you have turned the corner to recovery of your good health and steroid-free living by now.
Maybe I missed it on the blog, but did you work at your alma mater camp this summer as in previous years?
Prednisone is like legal meth. I hate that stuff. Miss Muffet has to take it and it is the devil incarnate!
I'm on prednisone for poison ivy (down to 40mg today) and man, the side effects are not fun. I'm glad I'm not the only one feeling a bit crazy. Although it's very nice not to be itchy.
Good luck with school and practices and all that good stuff. I'm ready for Christmas break already.
