Big block of writer day

So, yeah "hey".

I'm still here.

Can't think of a danged thing to write, so I'm going with the "just write something" theory.

Something.

Heh, I crack me up.

So far, the school year is a never ending "to-do" list that doesn't get done because we're never here to do it.

Busy Girl (who turned 14 last week, by the way) is playing volleyball in high school and has practice every day.

Busy Boy is playing football with practice 3 times a week, and Busy D. has soccer practice twice a week now.

Busy Girl's team is undefeated thus far, but we have quite a few more matches to go.

The stark reality that she will have to play club/travel volleyball in order to continue her high school career has become apparent.

(Hire me. Will write for astronomical volleyball fee.)

As a 7th grader, Busy Boy won't see a lot of action in the football games this year, but he's actually got a good attitude about it.

Busy D.'s soccer team moved up a division and they play on a larger field, now.

He's not very big, so we were anxious to see how his little legs would carry him on the bigger field.

He had 3 goals, so I guess it worked out OK, but I am really starting to see where the other kids are getting a lot bigger and stronger than he is and his days as an offensive machine are numbered.

We really do more than kids' sports, I just can't think of anything else to write about at the moment.

We have a flea problem, but I'll bet you don't want to read about that.

Um, I have folded laundry in forever.

Nah, that's not very interesting, either.

It will be interesting when we have to go to work naked after no one can find any of their clothes.

We went to the State Fair today.

There are some scary, scary people in this world.

Gene pool was missing a lifeguard that day.

Look I can stand on my writer's block and I can sit on it, too.

Ah hell, who am I kidding?

"Writer's block" is the domain of a (said very formally) "writah" of which I am not.

I think I'm just too lazy to think of anything to write on my blog.

Bonus points to whomever guesses the (admittedly adjusted for my own use) reference in the title.

Having been to the Kentucky State Fair a number of times, I can well imagine what yours is like. The people-watching can't be beat.

No clue on your reference, though.

Sorry, no clue on the post title reference, um, yeah. You found no interesting blog fodder at the State Fair? No odd deep fried things on sticks? Surely there must have been something! Heh. Something.

What? A State Fair? That should be worthy of two to three great posts.

I know what you mean about the brain blockage, though. Mine always happens on the PAID end of writing, though, instead of the fun bloggy stuff. Telling your employer "I got nuttin'" for about two weeks isn't exactly what they pay you for, you know.

Oddly enough I do want to hear about your flea problem because we have a flea problem as well and I need to add different things to my arsenal or I fear they will win the war.

Also agree that the state fair should at least garner a post, I know a visit to our local water park is treasure trove of stories and a state fair is like that only x10!

"Big Block of Cheese Day" on "The West Wing"? I think I might remember that you were a follower of that show.

Hey, funny that with your writer's block, I came up with tons of information....or well, advice...

1. On the club volleyball? Find someone to sponsor her (and maybe a friend) and by someone I mean a local sports physician, or if you live in a small town, sometimes little small town stores will sponsor half of someone's fee's. We have a chiropractor in our town who has a child who plays baseball at Miss. State and he was drafted but didn't take it because it was real low in the draft plus he has more years of school...she almost always pays the way for a kid to do club ball in any sport.

2. Two ways to rid yourself of the fleas. One immediate, one long term. For the quickest immediate way, plug in a night light and put a bowl of water underneath it, the fleas will jump toward the light and then fall in the water and drown.

The other long-term way is to put some limbs from a crepe myrtle bush in your house. We keep fresh ones under our sofa, behind our dressers and under our beds. Kids are like human flea toting bags, worse than animals some times. But the crepe myrtle will offer some long term success.

And, if you are not sure you have rid yourself of all of them, put a white piece of paper on the floor. If there are any flea's anywhere around, they will jump on the paper, they are drawn to white. That's why someone in the house wearing white socks will get bit more often than someone completely barefoot.

3. Our county fair starts tomorrow night and I think I'm more excited than anyone..how scarry is that?

Lor beat me to it! Of course it's big block of cheese day. I love that episode.

Gene pool missing a lifeguard -- HAHA. That's funny right there. And we haven't been to the State Fair in 10 years because - damn - it was SCARY.

In TN, you'd think it would be held out in some beautiful rural county and be all full of sunshine and apples and horses and cows and wholesome gooodness. BUT NO. It's in a craptastic part of town, on a hilly, cement lot, and you can't go after dark without fear of being mugged. Fun.

If this is you when you have writer's block...I want to see you when you're having a really good writing day :)

Sounds like life has gotten to its usual busy bit for you.

Yeah, fairgrounds are always interesting people-watching. Its actually more entertaining to make fun of people there than it is to go on the rides (mind you if you have a few beers in you anways).

BTW- Its totally okay to have writers block and just bull**it your way through a post. It happens to all of us!

People-watching at the state fair is second in its fear factor only to actually riding the rides. I'm pretty sure they're held together with just gum and chewed tobacco.

I agree with the person that said the State Fair should've been good for 2 posts by itself.

"Went to the State Fair... saw people there that could've been their own Grandpa... and wearin' clothes I wouldn't be caught picking up dog mess out of the yard in."

- Bill Engvall

Ha. I was gonna say Big Block of Cheese Day as well, but I had no idea why. Just figured I was having Big Block of Think Day.

Here's the thing about Writer's Blog-Block...

My hubby has just started writing a blog.

He sees me reading this one, and suddenly it's some kind of competition...

"So, did Busy Mom have an entry today? When was the last time she wrote something? How's it goin' in Busy Mom's world..." yadda yadda yadda

I'm trying to cover for you...but for the sake of my own sanity... bull#$itting yer way through a few posts would be greatly appreciated.

:)

Damn. You can write a lot even writer's block - and it's actually interesting!

Ummm, we had an infestation of ticks in our house one time.

That's all I got. Really.

Bummer on the flea problem. I once camped out in the back yard with my ex husband and our two cats in a tent while we bug bombed our house. Problem was the cats are nocturnal and were up playing all night and making all sorts of scraping sounds in the cat box and eating crunchy food. The bummer was I had to work the next day and had zero sleep. Don't recommend that route.

By the way, did the New Orleans family have any damage from the hurricane? Also, what ever happened with the dog you found? If it's a sad ending I don't wanna know ; )

Try not to let Busy Girl overdo it with the volleyball. My niece was a dedicated member of a high school team and a club team. She ended up with a herniated disc at age 15:-(

Haven't been to a state fair since we lived in GA. That was scary enough, thanks!

Glad you posted about the kids, been wondering how they were doing. Sounds liked you have been busy! :)

Take care!

Did you at least get a giant corn dog or a funnel cake out of the fair? Because you can write anytime, but funnel cake opportunities are definitely seasonal.

We have yet to take our girls to the State Fair because of the scary gene pool factor.

And WTF on volleyball practice EVERY DAY? Oh my...and I thought we were busy with one kid partaking in two extracuriccular activities. I know...wimp mama am I.

We're now on that new soccer field, too. It's hard to believe that Miss C is now in her fifth season of soccer!

p.s. I say call a laundress strike and let them fend for themselvs. ;)

I've got the block going too--nothing seems very interesting to write about. Club volleyball is horribly expensive. Our friends have a daughter who does that and a gymnast and they spend an incredible amount of money in fees and travel. I thought the gymnastics was bad enough!

I'm having a big block of commenter's comments. Don't even know where to begin. So much info that my brain is spinning.
It could be that or the fact that I'm waking up so ding dong early to take HG to volleyball, Latin and handbells.
I may lose my mind. So I think I've joined the club. I don't think I could manage two children in a bunch of stuff.

Hey you should check out this service called Sitter Socials if you ever need a babysitter for the young ones!

goto http://www.sittersocials.com and check it out! Let me know what you think if you end up using it!

See, the thing about a blog is, you don't blog for blogging's sake - you blog because you have something INTERESTING to write. There is a reason you don't get paid to blog... because nobody wants to read about a life so mundane that there is nothing to write about.
