Word from New Orleans Friend

Update from New Orleans Friend:

Greetings Busy Mom Minions!

Please let me thank you for your thoughts and concern for us all. Luckily, this time it was only just a scare for us New Orleanians.

Our drive was the most hideous part of it all. 8 hours to get to Hattiesburg (normally a 2 hr trip) and 17.5 hrs to Nashville (normally 8.5 hr trip).

NOHub and I talked about the wonderful Busy's and how we were so excited to be evacuating to their home again (yes... excited!), but how we SO did not want to throw a major monkey wrench into their normal work and school routine for a whole week since we were there for the long haul.

We know they would say it would never do such a thing, but how can it not?

Yes, "evacucation", as we call it (evacuation/vacation), is now a lengthy event because there is much political and government involvement who say when it is allowed to go back to our homes, but not before they decide it is safe for us.

Shew, I am so glad to have them there to know what is good for me!

So... schools and work were a wash until we were flagged on in ... anyway... We had a wonderful time at our camp, yep, the one from the 70's where Busy Mom and I met.

We fished (and ate that fresh catfish too) and shot the guns and swam and hiked and got lost to boot!

And the chiggers were out in FULL force. I have over 200 bites on my body and NO, you don't want me to show you!

On a much more festive note - We did get a chance to visit with the Busy's one night and BM and I even went out to one of her oldest childhood joints. Best cheeseburger in Nashville, officially!

I wish it could have been a longer lunch hour, but alas, work happens.

I do have to say that I am very pleased that Ike decided to blow somewhere else. I wasn't up for another 18 hour car trip all in one day.

Let's just hope those computers models are accurate, eh!?!

Again, thanks for your good thoughts. They do not go unappreciated.

Fondly,
New Orleans Friend

Also, I want you to know that New Orleans Friend makes the best pepper jelly in the world.

She is also known as the "Confetti Jelly Lady" and you can find her products in stores in New Orleans and she will sell you some through the magic of the Internets.

Contact her at confettijellyladyATgmail.com confettijellyATyahoo.com.

Confetti Jelly makes a GREAT Christmas gift, (think teacher baskets) or would look great on the shelf in your store.

It even comes packaged with recipe ideas, but we just eat ours with a big ol' hunka cream cheese.

Rumor has it she's moving up to a near-commercial kitchen, so she can make as much as your heart desires.

Contact her today!

My Baton Rouge friends (who still don't have power yet) are referring to the past week in Chattanooga as their "Hurrication." It's all about your attitude.

mmmm jelly and cream cheese...with crackers. Is it lunch time yet???

Glad to hear they're doing ok :)

That sounds delicious. Glad NO friend is doing okay and safe!

Well, unless Busy Mom set me up a gmail account that I am not aware of, the email I do know about for jelly is confettijelly@yahoo.com

ORDER PLENTY!!! It is Good!

xxoo,
New Orleans Friend

I just ordered four jars!

I'm guessing it's either Rotiers or Brown's Diner, but if there's a better cheeseburger in town, PLEASE let me know!!

Sounds wonderful! Will check this out, thank you. :)

I'm glad you're safe and your stuff is okay, too. It's awesome the fun you had while having to evacuate. What an awesome way to make the best of things.

Just thought I'd comment on this New Orleans thing. We're based in the UK and really think you go through it over there. It seems like these hurracaines come around every other week. You've got great spirit though.

All the very best with everything!

I'm glad it wasn't too awful. Good idea to make a vacation out of it
