Does she know it's Christmast ime at all?

Is it just me, or does it really not seem like Christmas?

I'm waiting for that holiday excitement feeling inside and it's just not there.

I'm not despondent, depressed, bitter or (much) more harried than usual, I'm literally just not feeling it.

I want to have that feeling, I like Christmas. I'm wondering if it's just a sign of the times, or if it has something to do with my advancing age.

We're doing our regular Christmas stuff, albeit without my MIL (long story) and I'm sure a lovely time will be had by all, but thus far, it feels like a lot of preparations are being made for a Thursday.

Eh, whatever. I guess it will get better.

In the meantime, your gift to me can be to go enter the 3 contests I have going on over at Busy Mom Reviews.

But, hurry. They end tomorrow night.

What do you mean "without your MIL"? Do you think you can make a statement like that without clarification and not get a hundred questions? Hope all is well.

Last Christmas stank for me because of family discord. This year, we, as a family, have healed. That makes a HUGE difference.

I also found that ditching the excessive gift giving and doing/giving for the poor has done wonders for all our attitudes as well.

OR, maybe you're just overwhelmed and just need a break. Put on some gentle Christmas music, look at the tree lights as you sip some eggnog or wine and focus on how much God has blessed you. A truly thankful heart can really help lift the spirits!

Maybe it's the age thing. I've felt that way the past few years. I usually start to feel it about the 24th. I figure it's okay, since it's really only Advent now. I have the 12 days of Christmas to get into the spirit of the season!

I feel the exact same way this year! It's not a Scrooge thing and there's no particular reason for it - I'm just not feelin' it. It's like I'm going through the motions. This is usually my favorite time of year. Maybe next year...

Watching "Fred Clause" helped my mood immensely. For about an hour.

Hey, it's a start!

Just the facts please. About your MIL. I think you'll be feeling it about Tuesday night. The panic that is.

I don't think many people are feeling it. We have received a whopping total of 4 Christmas cards. Had to force myself to decorate the house for the kids' sake. Sigh. For me, going to church helps get me in the spirit of the season.

Same here. I thought it was just me. I think we have gotten 3 cards this year. Usually we have at least 30 by now. I don't think we have ticked off that many people.

I feel exactly the same way. I put up the tree this year and while I was doing that I was wondering why I was doing it. I didn't feel like I was particularly in the holiday spirit. I was putting it up out of habit more than anything. I think I was hoping it would get me in the spirit, but so far not really. Just like you I'm not depressed, just mostly meh.
