My Weekend. A short story by Busy Mom

So, I yammered on the other day about shut up and write, yet I haven't written anything since.

If you follow me on Twitter, I'm sure this has become a cliche but I've been at volleyball all weekend.

Busy Girl plays club volleyball, this is her first year and wow does this ever take up a bunch of time.

Yesterday, our first game was at 3pm, and we got home around midnight.

Granted, that time included dinner, which took a while since as parents, we were pretty much obligated to take the coach out for a beer or four after a decidedly "What. Was. That?" performance by our kids.

It also included the 35 mile drive back in the snow at 45 mph with my running commentary to Busy Girl about the hazards of driving in snow and ice.

I like to tell her I talk about these things because she'll be driving soon (I know!), but actually, I was really tired and the snow was hypnotizing me and I wanted to stay awake to keep from having to demonstrate how to call a tow truck or an ambulance when you run off the road.

Today, we had to be back at the tournament at 10:30 this morning and we didn't get done until 4:30.

There is a me-shaped groove in some bleachers on court 3B.

Fanny. Fatigue.

The season has been frustrating thus far, I will admit.

If I summarized, it'd just come out all, "Blah, blah, blah...volleyball...Busy Girl...wrong team...blah, blah, blah...like a Will Ferrell movie...", so I won't.

I'd tell you about the rest of my weekend, but I just did.

The End.

OK no volleyball for my girls. Ever.

Also fanny fatigue? So dang accurate!

Been there, done that, feel your pain. Except mine looked like soccer and we were outdoors mostly. Still doing it actually, but with my daughter in HS, we are down to club soccer in the fall and school soccer in the spring. The greatest thing about school soccer? Bus transportation. Fabulous!!

ok - i go out on a THIN limb here, but can she ever do volleyball without you there the entire 23.5 hours? I mean, you DO have a life - right? And I definitely know about being at the kids sports events, but hey - enough is enough after 9 hours. I'd say after 3 hours - you are officially considered having "been there for it"

I do believe I can so relate to putting that new term of "fanny fatigue" into general use.

Hey, you gonna have to invest in a stadium seat...can't have fanny fatigue! lol

Oy. Club VB - ben there, done that. Recall tourneys at Penn State. Oh yea....loads of fun. ;-) Just remember, thnis too shall pass!! LOL And then you'll wonder where the time went. ;-)

LOL. Fanny fatigue---I have so been there. Only at bleachers watching dance competitions.

Glad you got home safe in the snow.

Scarily, now that baseball season has officially started here, I will be writing the next verse to this tune...only change volleyball to baseball.

Thank goodness for folding chairs and cheap novels...
