Since many of you have tolerated my incessant talk about my bum knee, I just thought I'd update you.
I went back to the doctor today and the visit went much better than the last one.
I'm glad I went today, since the pain is worse than it's ever been and I wanted him to see it.
Actually, I think the problem is that PT is aggravating it and I probably need to stop.
But, you see I can't stop. PT chick charted that I had "poor" muscle control in my left leg (the one that hurts) and I was all, "Nuh-uh. Step off, no one calls my muscle control 'poor' and gets away with it", so I was gonna be the best darn exerciser in the whole place.
Anyway, I had an x-ray, and the problem is, indeed, arthritis.
Like I said, I've had it for many years and it's not been much of an issue other than odd noises and crunching, but something obviously got worse.
Apparently, it's past the point of arthroscopic surgery doing any good and I will eventually have to have it replaced.
Just what you want to hear at the ripe old age of 44, no?
In the mean time, we just have to figure out how to keep it from hurting like it is at the moment.
I got a steroid injection which is what I wanted in the first place. I've had it before and I feel like it will help.
However, it presented a little dilemma today in that after he injected it, it hurt like a mother-of-pearl and I kinda couldn't bend it.
They told me I was done and that I was free to go, yet I was still sitting there in my bitchin' paper shorts and I couldn't figure out how I was going to get myself off the table much less get my pants back on.
After a few contortions, I managed to do so and then realized I had to walk back to my office from there.
Folks, that gait was not a pretty one.
The more dignified I tried to walk, I'm sure the more intoxicated I looked.
I made it back to my desk and eventually home, albeit the journey to the parking garage was interesting as well.
I've mostly sat on my rear this evening and hoping I will be cured in the morning.
Oh, and I watched To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar.
Loved it, but the most significant thing is that I actually sat down and watched what I wanted and I figured out the free Movies on Demand.
I OWN 2004, baby.
There's no stopping me now. I may even research that new fangled X-Box thingy.

I will tell you that everyone I know who needed a knee replacement put it off for a long time.
Then they had it done, and wished that they had done it MUCH sooner.
I'm going in for arthroscopic surgery on my elbow in just a few scant hours. My expectation is that they'll tell me, in the end, that I just have to live with it. Old, old, old at 47.
Sorry your knee is acting up. OUCH. But I love your comment at the en- "I OWN 2004, BABY!" So right there. Thanks for my chuckle for the day!
I'm sorry you have joined the arthritic knee society. I have been a member way too long. I don't want a knee replacement either. My sister in law swears by them (she has had both done!!). I've had enough surgery for the rest of my life.
Love your humor!!!! Sorry about the pain!
I'm with The Mother - if they say the replacement needs to be done, just go ahead and get it done - no use wasting anymore time with a knee that ain't workin' when you can get one that does!
Let me know before you make an appt. I have a definite bias as to the joint replacement team.
Yikes on the knee, girl! I hope you are in a much better place tomorrow.
