Come on and spoon, spoon, spoon a-spoon...

Let's say you have a set of measuring spoons held together by a ring.

("You have a set of measuring spoons held together by a ring". Heh.)

You are cooking and need only the teaspoon, and it will need to go in the dishwasher.

Do you:

a. remove the teaspoon from the ring to use it?

b. use the teaspoon, leaving it and the other spoons on the ring so as to keep them together?

Discuss.

use it, rinse it, put it away. end of story.

I have removed the spoons from the ring. Now, if I can just find all the spoons I'll be set to go. I have a TBSP and a Tsp. in the kitchen drawer, I'm sure I spied one up in the bathroom, one is in the garage (no idea why), and one is outside in the play area. Don't be like me, keep the spoons on the ring and just hand wash the one you used, =)

remove it from the ring. always. What if I have more cooking to do before that dishwasher gets run? Only, of course, it's a matter of putting the singled out measuring spoon BACK ON THE RING, yes, yes, I know....

I have three sets of measuring spoons and I have permanently removed ALL rings. I never put them in the dishwasher. They are always washed by hand because I will inevitably need them again before the dishwasher ever gets turned on.

I like New Orleans Friends idea. I think I will try that.
Sounds like you were baking??!!

Wow...thanks for making me realize yet another way that I am lazy. I've never removed my spoons from the ring. I use it and put the whole shebang in the dishwasher.

Oh, gods, no.

Anyone with the time to takes spoons off the ring has WAY too much time on their hands.

I own several sets, none of which have the rings attached.

They make wonderful shovels in the sandbox.

I keep them on the ring and wash the whole thing. If I remove them I will inevitably lose some of them. I have two sets to cover times when I need it before the dirty one gets washed. And if I use both and still need to use another? Then I remove one set from the dishwasher and hand wash.

If I took them off the ring, I'd never manage to get them back on there. I usually just toss the whole thing into the dishwasher, or just wash off the one I used and put them away again. Multiple sets of measuring spoons also helps!

None of mine are on rings. I've never gotten the hang of holding the ones you're not using so that they don't flop down and knock all of the whatever out of the one you are using and...ugh. So all three of my sets were taken off the ring in fits of frustration long ago, rings thrown away, and I have never, ever, not even once regretted having done so. I don't have any more trouble finding which one I need in the drawer than I did finding the ring in the drawer, then finding the right one on the ring, etc.

Like several others, I three sets - all off rings - wandering about in the kitchen "miscellaneous" drawer (which bites - be careful when searching for something!).

I have no dishwasher. Forty years of washing dishes by hand has trained me to use the minimum number of utensils as possible.

I don't know, but I'll bet if you sent a SASE to Box 350, Boston, Mass 02134, you'd get a good answer.

Am I the only one who caught that?

I don't remove it. Sometimes I just rinse it after using. Sometimes I put the whole thing in the dishwasher.

Amazingly, you seem to have way too much time on your hands. Who thinks of this shit?

I totally take the spoon of the ring! It saves me time and effort later when it comes to the "washing dishes" portion of my evening.

Plus I'm on the Weight Watchers so I need all of my measuring spoons to be clean at all times! ;)

If I took the handy little ring off, those cute little spoons would probably end up going down my drain and getting ground up in my garbage disposal. Um... kinda like half of the spoons in my silverware drawer.

PS Caught the Zoom thing too. Very clever, Busy Mom.

I take whatever it is I need off the ring because OMG that ring drives me ABSOLUTELY INSANE!

We take all the spoons off the ring when we buy the ring. Otherwise, if I dip the teaspoon in oil, the oil gets on the rest of the spoons, too, rendering them useless!

Hubi, fra bends! I guess I don't cook enough because it never occurred to me to take them off the ring. However! I would always hand wash them anyway. Ps Was this a serious question?

I'm not saying, but I will say: Damn you for getting the Zoom song in my head just before I head to bed.

This just cracks me up. I took mine off the ring but have now mangled a couple of them in my garbage disposal. And I'll second Ben. I'm going to be humming the
Zoom song all day now, thankyouverymuch. "Come on give it a try..."

I concur with NOF. Use it, rinse it, put it away. That's what all the cool kids do.

If you take the spoon off the ring, he will feel singled out and it will hurt his feelings. Or maybe all the other spoons feelings. So I say quietly rinse the special spoon and dry him off without the others knowing. Or throw the whole thing in the dishwasher.

I take the d&%$ ring off and toss it in the trash right away. I do not like washing any more than absolutely necessary.

Avatar portraits how humans are selfish in some of the times and just how greedy it is!
