Thoughts. Deep or otherwise.

Once again, I sit here unable to put any thought to keyboard.

Quite possibly it's that I have no thoughts, not sure.

You, in the back? Pipe down.

The boys started school today (Busy Girl and Busy Dad started last week) and I already feel like we just re-boarded the runaway freight train we hopped off at the end of the last school year.

I usually get a week or so out of the new year before I feel like that.

Deeply contemplating what I can do to get a grip, but I think we just need to get in a routine and out of some sloppy habits in the evenings.

Alas, that routine will probably involve me actually folding and putting away laundry more than once a quarter.

And, dinner.

Turns out they do, indeed, require dinner every night.

This really wasn't meant to be angsty, just trying to figure out how to get on top of things (OK, at least get back to baseline) before the school year gets too far underway.

It's going to take a few days of just buckling down and getting some things physically organized and a couple of evenings working my corner for some grocery money for a "big shop" and I'll be good to go.

Hey, I can also use that spare time to organize my photos and work out my unicorn.

Oh, yes. The "big shop" is something we strive for here at our house, too. Even the doofus-dog gets all excited on "big shop" days!

I hear ya. Between sports, school, and trying to remodel 3 bedrooms, I'm pulling my hair out. Maybe I'll get a hang of the whole thing next week?

hahahahahahahahahahahahahhaha!

The grind. So not loving it.

Our school doesn't start for another week, but since my college age kids are going back this weekend, it'll almost seem like a vacation!

Dang, that was a quick break! Summer's over for you already?

We go back on the 24th (Travis anyway) and Tyler and I go back 9/1...

I hate to give unsolicited advice, but we all have to do things we hate from time to time! Do you sill have a copy of the last comment I left here? You know, the one where I suggested getting a laundry person/someone to cook your evening meals. *Points to that comment*

Hey, you're Busy Mom... All busy moms need one of those. =]

Both of mine are in high school this year. Between sports, marching band and ROTC, we have something almost every afternoon after school and dinner preparation falls by the wayside. I am thinking of trying one of those cooking places where you just show up, assemble your meals and take them home to your freezer. With only 3 of us in the house, a 6 serving meal could (conceivably) make 2 meals for us. Have you ever tried this?I'll let you know how it goes.

Ugg! Back to the routine! And while I know that getting organized will make things a bit better, or at least make them run more smoothly, how does one find the time to GET organized?!? Good luck and best wishes!

It does seem unfair that they need to be fed so often doesn't it? And coming home from work to fold laundry, really? Where's the laudry fairy that lived with me while I was growing up.. oh wait, I AM the new laundry fairy...

Sarah's comment made me laugh!

My kids aren't back to school until after labour day. I'm not looking forward to it.

I AM looking forward to meeting you in Chicago next week!

It's so funny how when the freight train stops at the end of the school year, it's such a relief for a few days, then you just board the summer freight train and wait for school to start. My don't start for another week. Dreading the train, looking forward to some structure.

LOL, I can relate. I have 3 teens starting school in 2 weeks. I'm looking forward to meeting you in Chicago next week! We're going to have fun!

I went to kindergarten orientation the other night. There was a mom there with a new kindergartener. Her other kid? is TWENTY-ONE.

Just thought you'd like to know you weren't the only one.

Oy. I, too, hate the grind. I prefer the disorganization and laziness of summer. What are you coming to Chicago for? Are you gonna start working a corner up here? ;)

Our summer was kind of boring this year, until a couple of weeks ago when everythink started happening, going in and out of town, family visiting, I do not know when I'm gonna get ready for my son's first day at kindergaten! I cannot believe the summer is gone!

I'm looking forward to meeting you in Chicago

I can understand the situation. In fact every mother with school going kids does face this situation. It really does become difficult. This is Diana from Israeli Uncensored News.

Was this a summer without the camp where you had gone as a kid and worked in recent years while Busy Girl was a camper there? Or is that the camp where Busy Boy went? I can't remember if it is co-ed.

Well, we started homeschooling this week. Now it's Wednesday and thus far we've have one day of lessons -sandwiched in between "stuff" - and two "teacher work days".

"working your corner".. you crack me up.

... you will however have to tell me how you get away with folding laundry once a qtr?... that doesnt sound like something that needs to change to me... infact, it sounds heavenly :)

Oh, the joys of going back to school. We're not going back until after Labor Day but the FUN is already beginning here. My nephew is going to come live with us so I will have 3 high schoolers this year and a 2nd grader. Woot! Ain't we got fun?

Oh, this has nothing to do with going back to school, but I was wondering how your new doggies are doing. Hope all of your Busy Dogs are well.
