Soles4Souls

I saw this on a billboard today, it just struck me (the cause, not the billboard) and I thought I'd share:

Soles4Souls "facilitates the donations of shoes, which are used to aid the hurting worldwide. Shoe companies, retailers, and individuals can donate footwear (both new and used)."

Simple as that. They give shoes to people who need them.

There's several ways to participate, but the easiest seems to be to donate your gently used shoes at a drop location.

Think about your closet. Maybe you have some shoes that just never quite fit you correctly, but you don't know what to do with them?

Had a baby and your feet grew? (Ahem, maybe I'm projecting) Donate your shoes to this worthy cause.

Find the Soles4Soles drop location nearest you.

Bonus! Soles4Souls is on Twitter.

I've done volunteer work for a group called Samaritan's Feet which has a similar goal. It's an awesome endeavor and I'm happy to see other groups out there starting to do this very simple (but important) thing!

Thanks for sharing about our charity Soles4Souls. We distribute a pair of shoes ever 9 seconds all around the world. Thanks again!

we donate our gently used shoes (and we have lots!) to the local thrift store for resale. but i would much prefer donating them to a gorup like this one. thanks for the info!

and, um, so glad the billboard didn't strike you.

My husband has performed at a local benefit for the past 2 years that ensures all kids locally have shoes for each season and all of their activities. I hadn't realized how incredible it would feel to take part in something that at first seemed insignificant, but upon reflection was really, really huge.

Nice! Well, it struck me too. This is really nice and thank you for spreading the word through this post. Really nice.

What an excellent way to help those in need! I know I have plenty of gently used shoes in my closet right now. Thanks so much for sharing this information.

I love that billboard and I am definatley going to check it out!! I found this super cool idea and thought you might want to Check it out for the Holidays. Your loved ones fingerprint on a peice of jewelry!

I'm glad you brought this to my attention b/c I do actually have some shoes that are very gently used, but didn't want to throw out. They have several locations near me that I can get to.

Also, I don't know if you've heard of Tom's Shoes, they donate 1 pair of shoes for every pair you buy. They are given to children in poor areas that otherwise go barefoot, which causes swelling & disease to their feet.

A friend of mine near Nashville had a charity called Triathletes for Hope that did the same, but now they collect shoes at races and give them to Soles for Souls instead. It's a good organization indeed.

I always give my clothes to goodwill but I've never thought about shoes. Mostly because I wear them pretty hard while I own them.

I often have to replace heels, several times by the time I'm done with them.

Hey, nice post. I can finally get rid of those shoes I have that never really fit snug. At least I know that I could help someone else with them. Hope they're not too picky though. LOL.
