Christmas wrap-up. Get it? "Wrap" up? I slay me.

Though I wasn't positive it would arrive unless I worried enough, Christmas came and went as it is wont to do.

And, indeed, everything got done.

Busy Girl wrapped the presents and did the Santa assistance. That was kind of a milestone.

My beef tenderloin kicked ass.

Or, should I say, "kicked loin"?

Whatevs, that stuff was good even though my recipe is turn on the oven and pray you don't overcook it again.

Busy Girl was a trooper at her MRI, but was mostly fired up because she got to use a wheel chair.

We did find out she has a small labral tear in her hip, dunno what (if anything, yet) we're going to do about it.

But, now she's got a cyst thing over her eye that needs draining and we went to the fancy-pants plastic surgeon (no one else will touch it since it's above her eye) today thinking she'd do just that, but nooo...it's gotta be done in surgery! Tomorrow!

Poor kid, an invasive MRI for Christmas and surgery for New Year's Eve.

It shouldn't take too long, though and she's still planning to go to a party (we'll see about that).

She will have stitches, so she's concocting a story for when she goes back to school about how she got them on New Year's Eve when someone took a knife to her, but doesn't remember getting them because she was unconscious.

Maybe you had to be there, it was funny.

She's an add-on to the schedule, so we have no idea when the surgery will be, but she can't eat after midnight, so she stuffed herself to the gills earlier this evening..

I did the same thing, but my reasoning isn't quite as air tight.

Christmas was nice enough, like many people have said, it wasn't anything outstanding or unusual, just sort of garden variety.

We got Rock Band and I pretty much suck at it which makes me mad because I can play a real guitar and I can also play real drums, but I'm working on it.

I also got a pair of Ugg-like boots.

I know I'm old, and I live in fear of being "that" woman (you know her, she wears "current" stuff because she thinks she looks hip and cool, but she really looks like she's in costume. Or denial. Or, even a costume of denial.), but I love them.

I especially love them because now that makes 2 pairs of shoes that don't render me cripple.

Actually, the ol' heel and knees feel pretty good, but I'm still sort of limited on shoes I can wear, but I'm working on it.

Busy Girl promised me she wouldn't let me be "that" woman, and I think I believe her, but still harbor a fear I'll show up as the topic of some Facebook joke group, so I will watch how often I wear them.

As if that would help.

No big plans for New Year's Eve here, we're crazy like that.

You got any?

You can play guitar and drums? U are one groovy mom.

My kids are having friends over but I'm going to bed. I'm SUPPOSED to run a race at 10 NY Day, so I plan to get extra sleep. I'm C-r-a-z-y- like that.

From the kids' perspective, this was the.best.christmas. evah!! 17 year old got a car (cheap, used, but running) and the 14 year old got xbox. So, much satisfaction there. Me? I agree with Solonor, I miss little kids at Christmas.

For NYE we are going to a friend's house in the country for a bonfire and cookout. We do it every year, a ton of food, friends and kids running around in the dark. Good times!

Wishing your daughter luck on her surgery, I know she will be fine! I love my ugg like boots and I don't care if I am too old to be wearing them (honestly I think it is horrible that little ones and teens are wearing $150 boots) and I am all about comfort! Love your blog and look forward to reading more in 2010 Happy and healthy New Year to you and your loved ones!

Your daughter sure is tough! Good luck to her! Would ya mind sharing the brand of your NotUggs? I am driving myself crazy trying to choose...Emus look good. Good to know you found a comfortable pair. There's hope for all of us! Happy New Year!

just going to a gumbo and fireworks at some friends house in the hood. should be ok. happy new year to you and the fam!

My kids didn't get a thing for Christmas, but that is how we roll around here. That beef tenderloin sounds good, but then again I am a big carnivore.

We stayed home and watched the World Juniors. It was very exciting and
nice to hang with my husband with no commitments for the morning!
Sounds like you at least got lots of family time in, as we did. Merry
Christmas and Happy New Year to you all!

p.s. Rock Band is totally different from playing real instruments for sure.

I bought myself a pair of Uggs with my Christmas money - haven't had them off since! Don't care what anyone thinks, they are the most comfy things I've ever had.

I had a labral tear two years ago - had hip arthroscopy to repair it. Although he did not perform mine, Dr. Byrd in Nashville is considered the best in this field. Check him out...
