Betty Crocker Warm Delights Minis

warm%20delights%20minis.jpgWarm Delights Minis by Betty Crocker are little personal size microwaveable desserts.

I got some to check out, and, despite feeling like I was using an Easy Bake Oven recipe, they're quite tasty!

You just add water to the mix in it's own little bowl, squeeze whatever topping comes with it onto the top, and, microwave for 30 seconds.

No light bulb needed!

You know how some people might get a craving for cake late at night, and, they may or may not make a whole cake just so they can lick the spoon?

Yeah, I hear that happens to some people. These Warm Delights Minis might be a good, mess-free solution to people who I hear experience that.

Anyway, they're available in three — Molten Chocolate Cake, Molten Caramel Cake and Chocolate Raspberry Decadence.

Lands End Back to School

Lands%20End%20Ergo%20Pack.jpg
It's Back to School time for many kids, and, Lands' End, maker of kids clothes, and, other back to school items such as lunchboxes, and, backpacks has some tips:

In the coming weeks, 53 million K-12 students will soon prepare for a new year of school. Needless to say, it is a hectic time for kids and parents!

At Lands’ End, we know a few things about back to school time. To help you mitigate morning mayhem, I’ve included seven simple tips that help kids get out the door on time and off to a great day:

1. Establish a Sleep Schedule. According to Sleep for Kids, a service of the National Sleep Foundation, school-aged children ages five to 12 need 10 to 11 hours of sleep each night. Summer schedules often allow for fluctuations in bedtime routines, so getting back on track when school starts is essential. Getting in the habit of going to bed early and waking up early will help kids wake up refreshed and ready to go. Ease into the new sleep schedule before the first day.

2. Coordinate Clothing. Make getting dressed easier and less of an argument with outfits that coordinate from top to bottom. Coordinated outfits allow parents and kids to easily select and lay out clothes the night before, so everything is ready to go the next morning.

3. Go For Comfort. If it’s not comfortable, kids won’t want to wear it.

4. The Perfect Pack. Picking a backpack that best fits the needs of child is critical. Kids struggling with packs that are oversized, or too small will take longer to get out the door. A good rule of thumb is that their backpack should weigh less than 10 percent of their weight. Kids that are constantly hauling overloaded packs should protect their backs with a wheeled backpack.

5. Beat Surprise Messes. Nothing slows down the sandwich line like discovering yesterday’s gooey yogurt leftovers. Select lunch boxes that are easy to clean to help lunch packing go more quickly.

6. Keep Track of Things. Choose backpacks and lunch boxes with features that make them harder to lose. Personalizing backpacks and lunch boxes with initials, numbers or other icons on the outside will help kids quickly identify their belongings.

7. Skip Traditional Shoelaces. Avoid time-consuming shoe tying and retying with shoes that have elastic or rip grip strips.

I received an Ergo Pack from Lands' End for review.

I've always been a believer in getting quality backpacks, even for young children, and, the Ergo Pack doesn't disappoint. It features:

* A back panel that adjusts for the best fit
* Extra comfy memory foam shoulder straps
* 360° reflective trim to improve visibility
* Hip belt to help stabilize the load
* A MP3/CD player pocket and cord port
* Two sizes - the Ergo - 17″Hx14″Wx7 1/2″D and the Ergo Jr. - 14 1/2″Hx14″Wx7 1/2″D

We love Lands' End around here. They make some really sturdy kids' clothes, we even have several items that all 3 kids have worn. So, be sure to check them out for your back to school needs.

The Climb

The Climb The acclaimed family film, The Climb, was released on DVD August 21, 2007.

It stars John Hurt (Elelphant Man, Midnight Express), Gregory Smith (of Everwood), and, David Strathairn (Good Night, and Good Luck). The winner of eight International Film Festival Awards, including the UNICEF Award in Berlin, The Climb has received stellar reviews including from Michael Wilmington, at the Chicago Tribune, who called The Climb "a jewel well-worth seeking out for its humanity, humor, and most of all, the brilliant hurting of John Hurt."

Young Danny Himes was growing up in the 50's in Baltimore with a strong notion of bravery, especially since his father, Earl, was ridiculed for not being a war veteran, and, considered a coward.

Danny is obsessed with climbing the neighborhood TV tower to prove his bravery, with the help of his dying, grumpy, old engineer neighbor, Chuck Langer.

It's a great family movie, and, it stimulates discussion about, "What defines courage and honor?"

It's a good one for school aged kids, it might not hold the attention of the very young ones, but, we have really enjoyed it.
